Ime won't develop any new players so we might as well trade the pick even if it's #1

It shocking how many stupid people post on this forum. Reed Shepherd seems to be the trigger point for the ultra dumb.

Dude was never getting playing time with IME heck amen Thompson barely got playing time his first year and whitmore barely played in his second year. In every instance where Reed has played significant minutes college, g-league and NbA he has shown the same high skill level offensively and defensively.

he will be fine and will be phased in next year and hopefully forces ime to give him significant minutes but that will have little to do with his offense.

people keep comparing him to Stephon castle who played on a crap team that competed for lottery position with no one in front of him had the roles been reversed Reed would likely be the ROY.

if you compare Shepherd and castles performance and stats when both started, their numbers are eerily similar and that’s with Castle being given an entire year of high usage rate experience and reed Shepherd sitting the bench.

Could Shepherd turn out to be a not great basketball player sure it’s possible but so could castle there’s been plenty of rookie of years that flamed out and been average players.

My bet is on both them being very good players for a long time in the NBA.

If Ime is gifted Flagg or Harper and treats them like he did Reed and Cam, he won't be the coach beyond the All-Star Break.

Jalen + #9 for Harper. I'd do that. Flagg is on his own tier and I think Harper is the only one in tier 2.

I like VJ Edgecomb in top 4.

I have interest in Kon but maybe not at 4.

You'd think, but I'm sure they'll just call those players busts and talk about how many regular season wins the Rockets have.

    Agreed.

We're now in the win mode. Unless you get Flagg or a pg that is exceptional, trade the pick for proven players that can improve this roster.

Reed can still become a good player, and I was pleased that his 3P shot started to come around late in the regular season. However, I do think it's important to keep your expectations in check and think of him more like a late lottery pick than a top 4 pick. That draft was bad, really bad. He would definitely have gone outside the top 5 in this upcoming draft, and possibly outside the top 10. What that means is that the median outcome for Reed is probably closer to "good bench player" than it is "perennial all-star". At this point, I'll just be happy if he becomes a really good backup point guard, and I don't think I would consider him a bust or anything if that's his eventual fate.

Cooper Flagg and that's it. If we got #2 then the Rockets would have their pick of almost any disgruntled/on the fence star in the league. Only Jokic/Edwards/SGA/Wemby/Brunson/Haliburton would be off the table. I honestly think the Magic would entertain Paolo for a package around Dylan Harper. The Rockets could probably trade for Steph Curry if they got the #2 overall pick.

If the Rockets offered #2 overall plus Phoenix picks plus Green/Cam to the Lakers for Luka they would do it no question. I wouldn't.

I can't imagine ANY prospect would work out for the Rockets unless they get the #1 pick because getting picked by the Rockets would be a death sentence for their career.

I think you trade the pick if it stays at 9. But if they get a top 4 pick they need to use it. I just think getting one of the top 4 players on a cost controlled contract is the better move. If they get a top 4 I think they really push to move Jalen with the idea of drafting his replacement. Something like Green to Sacramento for Malik Monk and Keon Ellis. Monk and Ellis would improve the 2 spot from Green alone in my opinion. Sacramento needs some star power after moving Fox and Green "coming home" might be attractive to them. Then you select Edgecomb to develop behind those guys for a season or 2 a la Reed. Either Monk or Ellis could then be dealt next summer to open up space for Edgecomb in year 2.

100% I agree with this … I’m not delusional about how good he’ll be … just there is nothing pointing to a bust

Phoenix somehow had Kevin Johnson, Jason Kidd, Rex Chapman, and Steve Nash all on the same roster...

Yes. This is correct. We get either guys and they will be starting and it will be Stone’s and Fertita’s decision, not Ime’s.

uhhh Adam Silver would be paying a personal visit before preseason was even over.

Cooper Flagg might step onto *this* roster as the best player on it. Ime making a malcontent and a scared boi earn minutes, with his knowledge and access to them, was/is/will continue to be the correct tact.

Why must ultra negative bullshit drive the conversation? How about common sense and reason.

Cam needs to check his attitude at the door. Reed needs to stop waiting until he's got 8 feet of space to shoot (and then missing anyway). Maybe, just maybe? That's the reason neither played much. Because they're not that ****ing good and need to work it out this offseason.
