yup been like that all season, I remember when we first got him he was really creating and his assists really high - this year it seems like he was playing for his next contract and chunking a lot and then he got hurt…

He would still be good on our team but not as a 40m non creator , non paint threat , non middy, soso 3pt shooter

So apparently the Rockets have to make a decision on Fred's option by Friday. His contract stipulates that a decision must be 5 days after his last playof game.

Has this been confirmed by the team? Perhaps the contract says the last game of the postseason for the league, not specifically his team.

Call me crazy, but I exercise the option on FVV. If it's declined some team will give a long term deal that we wouldn't be able to afford.

Reed and Amen are not ready to be that guy that facilitates the offense. If they surprise you then you flip his expiring from some help mid season for a playoff push. Especially if there is an unexpected injury.

you can’t pick up the $40+ mil team option on this guy unless you have an iron clad agreed to trade with some team, and that’s unlikely by next Friday. I’ll be absolutely shocked if the rockets pick up his option.

    Fred with FG% 37% 3PT 34% this season.

Getting 40 milllion per year is a joke.

If Fred is still here, Reed wont get any chance to be developed.

he had a trash season in terms of shooting, distributing, and just being able to stay healthy. then he only showed up for 2 out of 7 playoff games. bye bye we need to move on there’s a dozen other inexpensive options instead

Also known as the Rockets and FVV have agreed to a deal if the option is declined, but FVV is willing to be traded if it means he gets $44.9M next season.

Didn't see what you typed at the end initially, but I was just about to say it sounds like they need more time to see if they need to include that 44.9M in a trade.

Yeah, people are overlooking how much value an expiring contract that large can give to a team in a rebuild. Do the team option, but I do not want Fred here beyond next season, so absolutely do not restructure his contract unless there is already a trade in place.

yeah I think this is a good sign because if they were dead set on having Fred back, they’d just decline the option and work out an extension. But the fact that they want to move the option deadline means they are exploring trades and believe Fred could have value in a trade. Sometimes it seems the org is not objective enough about Fred, but this is reassuring.

The whole press conference today was trade talk. Doesn't guarantee it happens. Moving the deadline was an easy decision and FVV knows what is going to happen. He is smart and wants his money. It's his last big payday and he is glad to work with the team. PHX is a 2nd apron team. FVV for KD is almost necessary because they cannot exceed the trade amount or package multiple players. They need to get under the 2nd apron but won't be able to get under the 1st apron.

PHX is trying to get Booker on an absurd $75M/yr extension but I think after their new flunkie gets roasted on the KD trade they are going to realize that Beal will be their best player and they need the assets from a Booker trade. No future star is going to PHX with no picks until 2032. No one there or their media have internalized or even begun to comprehend the magnitude of what that means.

Take Jabari out and add one of our own future picks. Atlanta was trying to dump Trae, but I’m not sure anymore. I’m not trading Jabari. To me Amen, Sengun, and Jabari are the real core and I would only trade Sengun or Jabari in a package for an absolute Superstar and fit would be a big factor. I wouldn’t trade Amen for anybody in the league.
