i agree with all the hate from casuals and the media regarding harden on somethings about him as a player but i cant for the life of me understand the constant "goal-post moving" regarding the teams harden is on. From the takes before the season that Harden should be in china, to the takes that pg13 leaving the clippers in free-agency meant that the clippers had the worst offseason in the nba. From the clippers were gonna finish as the 13th seed in the west, to now harden i guess choking in another game 7, its always a goalpost moving for this guy Also how does harden not get credit for game 6 vs the nuggets, is that not a "big game", just seems a "big game" for the media when it comes to harden is a game he plays bad in If you go on basketball reference on a per game basis for their playoff careers, harden vastly has outperformed both wade AND CURRY. when it comes to stats like VORP, and Win shares.. the only stats harden suffers from is win share per 48 which for his career he was ahead of curry in and still leads wade in after that career altering hamstring injury in 2021 I dunno, just seems like everyone was quiet while the clippers were overachieving and then you expect a 36 year old harden to beat "the best offensive player in nba history" in a playoff series, nevermind the fact the joker is currently on a supermax and the nuggets had homecourt advantage, i understand how the season went sour for the clippers in the final game. But by the nba medias own predictions the clippers would have never in a million years been in this poisition at all prior to the season. i know it seems like im trying to make excuses. I just dont understand what the media wants, if the clippers were trash and proved them right they would have hated on harden, and even if the clippers won this nuggets series, if harden had a bad game 6 or game 7 vs okc in the next round they still woulda still been whining. Harden doesnt ever speak up for himself which allows the media to keep doing this, but it just gets tiring after a while
but this was the thought before the season so prior to next year the clippers will be projected to be ass once again, but when harden floor raises again, then he is a choke artist in the playoffs. nevermind the fact that the lakers is the team who everyone had in the finals this year got beat 4-1 by the wolves, instead pick on the team who everyone had in the lottery prior to the season and **** on them for losing to the nuggets a team that these same media people had in the wcf prior to the season Harden is not a perfect player, but if you cant see how they move the goalpost with him, i cant help you my thing is if you make a preseason prediction on a team or player.. stick to it.. or just stfu and i dont wanna hear no kawhi talk, the clippers would have made the playoffs with or without him
Took me a decade but now I agree with you. For all his regular season accolades, I can't think of a single playoff where he legitimized my fandom.
If Vanvleet is not willing to sign couple of years at $20M/year, I'd be in favor of bringing in harden at a 2 year deal at $20M/year assuming Harden really wants to come home and willing to take some discount. This may be better option than giving up on the young core by trading for aging star player and limit out window.
harden is an all-nba level player. damn what the nba media says. and you wont get him anywhere near 20 million rockets should just trade for kd and hope his terrible suns experience was due to locker room issues and he will be more happy in htown
Literally everyone predicted Harden will choke in the playoffs...and stuck to it. Your obsession with Harden was initially really, really weird. Now I legitimately think you have an unhealthy obsession.
I thought he should have been more aggressive in G7 , but had 13 assists to 2 TO and the entire team just looked Dead . They just couldnt stop Denver. G6 was also an elimination game and he had 28/8 For the series he averaged 19/9 with low turnovers. Hes definitely had problems at the rim for a couple of years now. I do think his scoring will continue to drop . Hes definitely good enough , but is a tricky matchup . Hes a guard , but he aint guarding any guards. And he gives up size/athleticism to forwards.
That is the part that bothers me It is all Narrative In his last three Stops. . he was not THE GUY but THE GUY had equally disappoint games but no one cares Hamstring in Nets took him out. . he tried to play through while Kyrie went full street clothes Philly - He was responsible for their wins in the playoffs and no one showed up in the losses it seems Clippers - people act like Kawhi had an all world playoffs when it was generic . .I won't even speak on the Playoff P Rockets lost CP3 and Harden was suppose to beat 4 hall of famers in their prime with PJ Tucker/ Ariza etc . . .. Teams literally triple teamed him and his teammates missed open shots but it was all his fault. Harden's problem is similar to LeBron James They make the "correct" basketball play but we prefer MJ and Kobe going 1 on 5 and "willing their team ti victory" In this last game 13+ assist mean nothing because we only care about points If he hoisted 25 shots and only hit 8 people would like that better (with 1 asst) The one last thing that bugs me no end He is literally THE ONLY SUPERSTAR where his free throws and fouls calls DECREASE in the Playoffs Every one universally agree they change the rules in the playoffs for him . . other playes shoot as many or more playoff free throws but its not held against them I deeply suspect unless Doncic gets in the weight room and do some amazing stuff. . . he will become a true White Harden in that the narratives will turn against him Rocket River
