I think Cam’s agent will be telling him to hang tight and see what happens first with the Rockets draft and initial big moves they make in free agency. If the Rockets make it less likely that minutes will be available then yes… it’s time to ask for a trade to get him to a better situation. If the Rockets make the kind of trade we all know they want to make (IE something like Jalen, Tari, picks for Booker)… in that case you might want to hang around this next season to see if Cam could actually get his best opportunity here. Realize what the rockets are about to do, and don’t assume that the rockets won’t be starving for depth after they make moves. Of course if Ime and Cams relationship is in the toilet, maybe you proceed with more urgency, but if it’s not personal, I do think we are more likely than some think to actually have a good opportunity next season for Cam. But only if that consolidation trade is made or there are like multiple injuries. If it’s status quo next year yes the rockets and cam are doing each other no favors sticking together.
Why would anyone want Cam? You'd be lucky to get a 2nd rounder. We need to focus on finding a team that believes in Green. Cam is certainly not the answer at SG. If people hate Jalen they'll detest Cam. For the life of me I can't understand he has supporters on the bord. Maybe because Jalen has been so bad
I was just responding to your post because it said he's probably requesting a trade through his agent and the rest was pretty much elaborating on what I thought of him and the situation l. It wasn't intended to put words in your mouth.
Cam Whitmore got screwed this year, the org shot themselves in the foot by not playing Cam and Reed all year to let them work through their struggles so when the playoffs came they were ready to contribute. Cam wouldn't back down in the playoffs like some of our other players did, not saying he wouldn't have struggled too, he would have - but to not even try him is ridiculous - same for Holiday and Reed - Ime is a problem. He overvalues defense and role player offense, we need 3pt shooting, we need a star, and we need balance. All of our players are flawed, and are easily contained, you can hide flaws with some good shooting, but our best shooting remained ON THE BENCH - and as a result we got run. Stone needs to move some of Ime's guys to force his hand for the good of the org, we need to play Reed and Cam EVERY GAME to find out what they are......both are only 20, but they need time...... . DD
Not before we find out what he can be, that could be like LA Clippers giving up SGA......trade guys you KNOW will never be more than a role player, like Jalen Green etc. And if Cam doesn't pan out - then you trade him, but right now, we need his mentality and his jumper is more pure than Jalen's.....Cam at 20 has a much higher ceiling than Green at 23. Might not get there, but we know Green is who he is.....we don't know about Cam other than he gets pissed if he doesn't play.....which I personally love. DD
I'm OK trading Green too, but I'd still rather have Green than black hole Cam as painful as Green was to watch this post-season. I'm pretty confident this isn't a SGA situation. Cam will have a nice PPG on a losing team, but not a winning team.
Did you notice when Cam got the start, or when he played extended minutes he became much less of a black hole? I think Cam overvalues shooting in what he brings, and needs PT to smooth out and get comfortable playing the everything game, but when he comes in shoots 2-3 times misses and gets benched that isn't helping he needs to consistently be playing - and let him work through the learning curves. He is only 20 years old, he could be a bust, he could be a superstar - or anywhere in between, the question is the Rox need to find out what they THINK he will be before they trade him, same with Reed. DD
Not really. Cam is 95% a black hole. The only times he didn't seem like one was when he was making it. He just simply doesn't understand basketball is a 5 on 5 sport.
In his current role, he is going to be a black hole. He gets 5 mins at the end of blowouts so he’s gonna go shoot it as soon as he’s at the table. I agree with DD - we have to play him to see what we have with him. And with JGs collapse in the playoffs, he should be chomping at the bit to see what the coaching staff wants from him to get on the floor. It could be nothing but Cam should study the Kobe - Eddie Jones dynamic and put in the work to force his hand.
This is a good team with a very good coach. If Cam can't act right here then it doesn't look good for him anywhere else.
We’re talking about front office whom held on to KPJ like he is second coming of James Harden and giving countless chances to Jalen to be next Kobe. KPJ was released by Clippers and only saw playing time on the Bucks due to how crap their season has been and we gave the key to the city to KPJ and Jalen
I know Jalen was overall terrible this series offensively but hopefully it was a learning experience. If you can package him for booker or Giannis, fine but he’s still very young and extremely talented. Maybe he will improve. Remember the season before this one, you all wanted to dump him but this season he stepped up and proved himself during the regular. Hopefully he’ll take that next step next season. I also think Ime’s lack of offensive vision hurts Jalen bc we don’t really have an offensive systen. We need an offensive minded assistant to improve that side of the team.
