To me Harden wanted contact to draw fouls, whereas Jalen didn't. I think Jalen was hearing the noise and he began to over think everything offensively. When players say basketball is over 50% mental, they are right! If you look at it, how can a player with his talent play excellent defensively but wants no part of the offense?? I can see a Dennis Rodman or Pat Beverly type but Jalen? As good as he was playing defensively, you would figure it would fuel his offense. But let the NOISE effect him mentally! He was not aggressive at all on that end. If I were the coach, the first 2 - 3 plays would have been for him. Nothing about this offense really fits his style of play other than him and Amen on a fastbreak! FVV and Dillon both fit Sengun and Amen's game has various parts to it. That's why the HALF COURT offense looks so bad.
Cade plays in an open offense Ant plays in an open offense Curry plays in an open offense When Jalen was in high school, G-League and 2yrs under Silas, he was an OPEN OFFENSE/ FIVE OUT player. The last 2yrs, he's been learning to play half court offense. NOT MAKING EXCUSES, JUST FACTS! Think of it like this, you have this Run and Shoot QB, learning how to play an NFL type offense. Whereas, the players you mentioned; Cade, Ant, and Curry playing in the same system, they always been playing in. Cade has always played in an open court system, where he handled the ball. Ant has always played SG in an open court system and Curry has played the same way since college. The only player who's in a different system is Jalen. Since FVV came he has been playing in a structured offense.
Simple, that is exactly why he should go to another team. Not that I believe he is just an open court player, many others have adapted.
Lakers didn’t scheme to stop Ant til last game and he went 0-11 from 3 and if it wasn’t for FTs would have ended up with similar (points) as JG … stop it Cade wasn’t getting blitzed or doubled.. Knicks played him straight up and forced him left ( he’s also a PG) Steph (PG) had bad shooting games the diff is he makes bad shots more than he misses them and his coach isn’t going to bench him for taking them or making mistakes (all the turnovers) coaching plays a huge part in things - Ime wanted JG to draw the blitz /double and get off the ball … so then we basically turned our rhythm player into a role player (remember how Silas used him rookie year) stand in corner and take a shot every several possessions we were outcoached / outschemed - JG and Bari was rendered useless for most part as Ime fell into GS trap of allowing us to take 2s over 3s
[Russillo] “The most damning part of this series is the Jalen Green conversation. When he had 38 that was the aberration. 7,9,8,11,12,8 in the other six games. It’s a bummer of a Jalen Green conversation, cause now he’s just in Amen’s way. If you bring him back next year he’s just in his way.“
The sad part is that apparently he was watching videos of Kobe and MJ before the playoffs began then proceeded to play with no passion throughout the series. How do you watch videos of those guys and come in and play with no heart? I don’t care if he’s missing shots or making mistakes but do something!! Show me that you f**** care!!!
That’s exactly right it was the effort that was missing. I’d rather lose with him throwing up 30 shots than him just folding and doing nothing all game. When we started slipping bad Amen gave everything he had to try to will us back into it. That’s why everyone is praising Amen and bashing Jalen Green. He has no killer instinct, he has no heart.
Theres a post floating around here somewhere from @Nook who i believe has some inside knowledge and he said Green will me moved at sone point. I dont think Stone is stupid, so I do think he sees that Jalen needs a change of scenery and the Rockets need to move on.
Very good thought! And I have said the exact same thing. However, when you think about it, how many players today are playing in a 80's - 90's style offense? Memphis was running it with Gasol and Zach Randolph, the Ground and Pound but they realized you can not win with an ANTIQUATED OFFENSE in today's game! Thus the reason they only took 18 3pt shots yesterday. On this team, how many players are maximizing their offensive skills playing in this system? Jabari, a #3 pick is coming off the bench? Cam a productive scorer, who is no where to be found? Reed Sheppard another #3 pick who was lost for the yr? Only Alpi and FVV can function in this slow down, methodical style of play and it showed. Name me one other team in the NBA that is playing this brand of basketball?
And the minute he would've started throwing up shots, Ime would have took him out of the game. That's what most do not understand! Ime wants him to play a certain way. Slow it down, make the correct read and live with the result.
LOL so now you're crying that Ime has a lot shorter leash or patience on Jalen than on the other players?
As someone who has been preaching patience with Jalen, I am now officially OUT on him. Imagine this team with Cade instead of him. Jalen instead of Cade Jabari instead of Paolo Thank God we hit on Amen.
If Jalen would have came down court, tried to get himself going by throwing up 3 straight shots, what do you think would have happened? Ime wants him to play defense and make the right play no matter what. Otherwise you are on the bench. We have seen it before
Jalen was clearly scared and passive. That's 100% on him and no one else. I really think he needs to see a sports psychologist or some form of therapy because so much of his game is confidence and mental. It's why there's no middle ground in his performances and also why he completely shrunk in the playoffs. I just hope someone in the org is telling him that.
Those first two were never possibilities. Regardless of what rumors were floated, there's no way Stone passes on them. The Jalen/Mobley issue is more on point. Stone should have dumped KPJ to appease Mobley's dad, then drafted him. Sure, it sucks to have to play to someone's family like that, but in the end you end up with the better player.
I don’t have to leave because you are a dim fan who’d believe in Jalen Green in the playoffs. Curry is an all-time great. Very smart player. Very good. Losing to him, Draymond, and Butler will actually make the young Rockets better. Except Jalen Green of course.
Beal was 19/5/5 on 42/42/80 shooting splits in his first playoff series. Jalen went 13/5/3 on 37/30/67 shooting splits. If Jalen played like Beal this series, the Rockets would be hosting the Wolves tomorrow at Toyota Center.
