Above average shooting percentage? What are we talking about here? Sengun’s shooting percentage was way below average. He was flat-out terrible. Let’s not rewrite reality just to protect a narrative.

He shot terrible in game 7, but context matters: not only did the Rockets need someone to make shots, they needed someone to shoot, period.

The refs’ strategy this game was to allow everyone to play physical defense, and Amen is the only Rockers player that has both the athletic tools and instincts to dissect the warriors defense. But his assertiveness is not up to par with the true alphas yet, and 1.) his role in our defense plus 2.) a sudden surge in offensive responsibility combine to run him out of gas towards the end of the game.

I posted a thread a while back asking if Sengun Jalen and Amen could work long term? Because given the salary cap, we are basically straight jacked into those guys as our core. I think it’s clear we need a consistent #1 option and none of those guys are it. We are going to need one of those max slots for that #1 option.

Amen - max player/two-way player, but shooting caps his ability to be #1 offensive option.

Sengun - good #2 option; mid-range game away from being elite #2; 3-point game away from being #1

Jalen - microwave scorer; some nights he’s a #1 option and some nights he disappears.

I guess I’d bet Sengun is more likely to develop a mid-range than Jalen is to develop into a consistent #1 option. I think u move forward with Sengun and Amen, but we need to get serious about adding shooters around them.

People protecting Sengun like he's Dream, but the fact that he was guarded by a SG (Podziemski) and most of the time they never even doubled is disappointing. He should've made them pay every time they had zero centers or big men on the floor. When he did get the ball, he was hesitant and was looking to pass instead of absolutely kill like an "All Star" or "Franchise" guy should.

Dillion was pretty much a liability this series. He didn't play much in Game 6 for a reason, but got a ton in Game 7 and brought absolutely nothing, not even any hard fouls or anything that you could hang your hat on for having him out there.

Fred has to go this offseason. His game was never athletic to begin with but he is stuck at the top of the court like Daishen Nix used to be cause he was too slow and not shifty enough to get passed anyone. But, him intentionally not passing and people are literally jumping with their arms waving I'm open like Alpi on a fast break for him to chunk up an off balanced contested shot and stay in, ridiculous. Curry started driving on him in the fourth and that was it.
Honestly, these things at the end of it should fall on Ime to correct. The fall back of we're ahead of schedule is so weak, we lost to a team that we are better than. We had every chance to win that game last night.

Not baffling. Ime has been killing momentum and games all years with his non-sensical substitutions. Kerr wiped the floor with him.

    Yup
Dream doesn’t miss bunnies against dudes who are 6’ 4”

all star centers don’t miss shots against average shooting guards in the paint

I mean that dude from the warriors is basically Kevin Martin lite

Sengun isn't Dream. Sengun's problem this series is that the refs didn't eject Draymond once. While small guys other than Green had some success here and there, Draymond Green is the one that did most of the work on Sengun. Overall, Sengun scored very well when Green wasn't on him or helping clog the lane. Sengun was the best Rocket this series, IMO, even though I would build around Amen.

Youre comparing a 22 year old to Hakeem Olajuwan. Kinda seems like you want way too much from him at this point in his career. Again he actually overachieved this year. We're way ahead of where any of us thought we would be. Theres a troll aspect to your posts. They are really really stupid. Cant stress that enough.

Trade Jalen and Suns picks for Booker.

Trade Sengun, Cam and some of our own picks for Giannis.

    Amen, Booker, Tari, Jabari, Giannis.

    Reed off the bench.

    Breh.

Sengun got covered on the low post with no double team by that Gimley looking hobbit Podziemski.
A 22 year old Olajuwon would have dunked on him and 18 year old Olajuwon would have dunked on him.

Not too hard to ask that your low post ALL STAR CENTER score 1x1 in the post against a shooting guard who's 6'4"

How about Barkley? He was much shorter than Sengun, he would destroyed Podziemski.

Our best IMPACT players using LEBRON (Adj Box +-) are Alpi, Amen, Tari, and FVV. Everyone else is below average impact. Eye test seems to confirm. Start there and reload around these guys. That reload can come from FA, bench, or draft.

Absolutely would've killed them for fun and the other team would have to adjust. He would've also absolutely anihilated anyone trying to take a charge. You'll think twice before trying to get ran over for a reward. It's the mentally these players lack these days. If I'm Sengun, I'm insulted by putting a SG or anyone, including Draymond on me. You're the star, they interview you, you're on the videos, the team advertisements and represent us at the All Star Game, go out there and kill everyone. They should have to deal with you, not the other way around. Nervous my ass, he's been in the league awhile now and talks mess a lot.

They're right, he's not Dream. Dream didn't get the MVP and made it a point to show why he should've and then said, "We get The Big Trophy". I don't remember seeing Dream nervous either.

I think we look at numbers and not exactly what impact a person brings to the game. He may have had better numbers than most our guys, but he was not our best. I mean they targeted him on defense, never had to adjust to him. They even pulled away to let him shoot. He airballed shots with almost non existent defense. On the other side of the ball, our paint was wide open and he wasn't really a force on defense either.

He seems competitive though, so I'm sure he'll grow from this. They made an investment in him, so I'm sure the front office believes he will.

This is too hyperbolic. I think there are a lot of directions the Rockets can go, and I'd, personally, put a priority of keeping Amen, Sengun, and Bari. Those three fit really well. Add a efficient, perimeter scorer to that group and we're set for a while.

The reason for why Sengun is our default go to guy is that Jalen Green is not consistent at all and Amen hasn't developed a jumper.
