what about games 1-3 and game 7? Also in the regular season Jalen actually had his best season while Fred had one of his worst. I loved Fred last yr but what I saw from him this year really concerns me. And he’s getting too many flowers for a guy who didn’t even play well in over half the playoff games.
You’re really only competing with one team for Fred’s services at anything over $20M a year: Brooklyn. Brooklyn has a ton of money to throw around, so they could look at securing Fred the same way the Rockets did a few years ago… via an overpay. I think you could offer Fred $30m a year (your proposed 4/$120) and still be able to bring Adams, Holiday, (at roughly the same salaries) and an MLE player in under the luxury tax. I’m not a fan of running it back with this team, but it gives you a solid enough foundation with moveable pieces in any trades that they want to make.
Trade : Jalen Green, Sheppard, Landale and #9 Pick for Jordan Poole, Marcus Smart AND #40 Make similar money next year once Green salary kicks. Landale and Reed for Smart Jordan Poole is SG/PG Free Agency Duncan Robinson 3 year 60 Luke Kennard 2 year 25 Resign Fred - 4 year deal 116 mil Resign Adams - 2 year deal 28 mil Holiday - Resign OUT : Jeff Green, Jalen Green, Jock Landale, JTate, Reed, IN : Jordan Poole, Marcus Smart, Duncan Robinson, Luke Kennard, Holiday This makes us a much stonger team. More Shooting and Defense.
Maybe someone can clarify this for me, but it was my understanding that “current” contracts are just about going to have The Rockets capped out, and that’s before one speculates about added contracts for trading for a star player (or more)? I don’t have my head around it all, but didn’t give me the impression that Rockets have room to shop free agency outside of the organization w/o letting current players go, though I do understand they have an opt-out on FVV’s $40M contract due next season
that’s why I’m extremely careful who I go back and forth with on here - cause he really thought he cooked with this deal
FVV - 3 years 70m or 4 years 80m. Takes him to 34 or 35 years old and still a movable asset during contract. Might be a slight overpay but worth it for continuity. I doubt any other team surpasses that. Adams - I'm afraid we gonna have to let him walk. Made himself way too much money with his playoff run. JG - This series has me thinking that any mid SG would have seen us through and making a deep run. That said, I'm tempted to offer Ty Jerome (Cavs can only offer 14.3m) , who is anything but mid, a starting role (JG 6th man or trade) and 3years 70m. I don't think he says no.
Robinson and Kennard but you don't mention Ty Jerome who is a FA?! Hard pass for those bums, give me real, serious, players.
Q Grimes for a SG off the bench and to push JG - we have no vet SG on bench Malik Beasley - also another good choice If Kyrie opts out - I would love him here over FVV Naz or John Collins (if we lose Tari / Adams) I’m okay with losing anyone Ime won’t play in the playoffs …Tari can go if we move DB to bench and start Amen at SF … It’s a lot of solid backup PGs that can be better than Holiday (too small SG) https://hoopshype.com/lists/2025-nba-free-agent-rankings-the-best-players-available-this-summer/
Yes, we are right at the luxury tax picking up Fred and Holiday's options and including the #9 pick. If you want to add Adams, You need to renegotiate Fred at around $12M less per year. If you want to add players via the MLE, you need to decline the options on Landale and Holiday.
