There’s a guy named Cam Whitmore who didn’t see 1 minute of playoff basketball on the team. His offense was needed badly. Don’t trust Reed in a big game, but big mistake not playing Cam. Think we also needed Holliday’s automatic threes. Why sit him in a game where GS played zone for most of it. Udoka went all defense and the result was less than 90 points disgrace at home against a bunch of older players.
Failed rebuild? Are we looking at same team that made the playoffs and was number two in the west after several abysmal seasons? or did I find myself in a Philadelphia 76ers forum?
Everything is binary. A .500 win team should win the championship the next year. 22yo players should show the poise of 30 year olds.
See, now THIS is the kind of overreaction that we're famous for. Was wondering when we'd get one of these, because most of the posts have been level-headed, if disappointed. NO, the rebuild isn't a failure. Before the season most of us would be ecstatic to be in the position we're in. We can simultaneously be upset AND rational, I'd hope.
In stride with Thunder rebuild. Thunder were #1 seed last year and exited first round. This year they picked up Caruso, Hartenstein and Chet came back from injury. Rockets 2nd seed this year and first round exit. 3's > 2's Game 7: Houston 6 (3PM).......Warriors 18 (3PM) = 36 more points (Warriors) Rockets blitzed Curry to get ball out of his hands Gary Payton was sick so Warriors leaned on Buddy Hield more. Buddy killed us Gm 7. Warriors blitzed Jalen Green to get ball out of his hands Nobody stepped up to make 3's. Udoka went to Steven Adams early and sat Jalen Green what seemed like most of first half. Looney negated Adams/Sengun.
This is a dumb post.. Let's see what they do this offseason. And I don't think we've seen the ceiling of any of our young guys yet. I can't be more excited to be a Rockets fan. And acquiring all of this talent in 4 years? Man, if you see that as a failure, I just don't know what to tell you.
OP doesn't believe in players getting better. Just pack it in. Steph Curry didn't reach the playoffs until 4 years into his career. Young guys can get better. Amen and Sengun are the only ones who truly have the chance to develop in to ELITE players. Easier for Sengun at this point as I think it will only take touch around the rim from 5-10 feet away to become a destroyer. Amen seems to possess the fire and work ethic to improve his shot and handle. That athletic ability is 1 of 1. Reed Sheppard and Jabari for me are also guys to watch. I think Jabari's role can really be increased next year. He needs more shots. He is a fantastic shooter.
lol. You want to know a failure at rebuilding? The hornets and the wizards, horrible franchises who can’t draft, constantly fire head coaches and have boneheaded trades. The rockets are not them. The bucks and suns are about to rebuild; maybe after a couple of years, if they don’t get out of the first round too, you can consider their rebuild a “failure” too lol
The Failure was this year's Playoffs and Offense but not the whole Rebuild. But yes after the Silas years, a won Playoff Series would have been welcome.
What 3 point shooting does is creates open layup drives. Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun having no shooters around them hurt the Team. Ime Udoka never learned Basketball Offense 101, Only 18 attempted 3s is on Ime Udoka.
I think a condensed version of what OP is trying to say is that we spent 4+ years since Harden, looking to replace him and still haven't found a true star. We have an incredible cast but the lead role hasn't been filled despite all the high draft picks.
The timeline is not there to be sitting on one's laurels but to be proactive about things. They didn't bolster the bench scoring and didn't give starters the rest they needed. They almost let GSW gentleman sweep them......so deep was the hole they dug themselves.
