Stone didn’t have anything to do with Harden. People on this site give him credit for the sun coming up each day. He also didn’t hire Udoka, that was Fertitta after Stone hired Silas.

given that hindsight is 50/50... one would think that would be the case...

but based on how some of these guys are still white knighting for this asshat... i dont think thats their intent.... lol

interesting passage about Dominique Wilkins going to the Celtics....

"It's just as well they never asked me about Dominique," Bird said. "Because I would have told them it was a big mistake. From day one, I knew there was no way that one would work out."

The three-time MVP's instincts were rarely wrong. He understood that bringing in Wilkins — a player celebrated for his offensive flair but never quite known for his team-first culture — was a poor fit for a Celtics franchise trying to build from the ground up. Boston needed continuity, youth development, and patience. Instead, it reached for a marquee name in hopes of regaining respectability overnight.

...of course, how many of these fanboys even know who Dominique Wilkins is - lol!

Harden was trying to use a return to Houston as leverage in his contract negotiations... and Stone but the kabosh on that...

He showed up more than any of our other players. I would like an upgrade, and if that happens I will be pleased. But, for me I can find far more blame with others than with Fred. I say draft a PG and develop Sheppard to take over for Fred after next season. But, do we have a coach that can draw up a real play?

Fred was the worst player in the series the 1st 3 games and was bad in game 7…he made a few meaningless shots towards the end to pretty up his statline, but he was 4-11 from the field to go along with 3 assists and 3 turnovers when the game actually mattered

we need to upgrade the entire backcourt

He should be traded or re- signed to a 2 yr vet minimum contract.

Noted your goal post shift. So instead of only blaming FVV, you now are blaming Jalen. I've been saying that for weeks.

Fortunately, FVV can be released this summer or renegotiated.
Unfortunately, Jalen Green is under contract for 4 more years.

Who cares if Fred had a bad game here/there. He's not the franchise player. He's a role player. But without FVV, they lose in 5. I do agree they need to upgrade their backcourt but more than anything, they need to upgrade 2-guard.

We need a pass-first PG that can shoot consistently... a young Kenny Smith would be nice.

Role players don't get paid $42 million like he did... and his usage rate kinda reflected the mentality that he was more than just a role player.

FVV is clearly a role player by NBA standard. The amount of money he is making (cap floor) and the high usage (no viable backup on the young Rockets) are due to unusual circumstances.

Someone should tell FVV that when he decides to throw up 15+ shots in a game.

Wrong. He IS paid like a role player. It's basic to view it as an annual 45mm contract. Context matters as he signed an unusual contract (for the NBA). Only 2 years of his contract are guaranteed. He got paid for 4 years in 2 years. Also note, if the Rockets didn't pay him, they would have had to pay a tax to Adam Silver for being UNDER the cap.

Instead of viewing FVV as a bad contract, you instead should view the contract as genius because the Rockets got what they needed for two years and now this summer they can move on just when rookie contracts are coming due.

Ah, you are so easy. Sorry that a reasoned response makes you angry.

You make me smile. If you have to resort to insults, you lost.

You constantly bash FVV and this thread is about FVV, so I assumed you were talking about FVV. You didn't specifically say Jalen, so I misunderstood you.

You spent this whole thread hanging an anchor on FVV. Now suddenly you realize, when I've been saying it all along, that this team's success hangs on Jalen's neck, not FVV.

I've been saying, FVV's contract isn't the Rocket's problem. It's Jalen's performance. I've consistently said they need to do something with FVV's contract this summer, which I'm confident they'll do. Can you give any props for that?
