I called exactly what we would do before the inning even started. He had just thrown 7 balls out of 10 pitches, most of them not even close to being strikes with one hitting Diaz in the previous AB. It’s raining and clearly tough to command pitches - Caratini literally just watched our guys struggle with the same thing. Hell he couldn’t even get a throw off because the ball slipped out of his hand on a SB attempt. So what does Caratini do? Has a 1-0 count and should be looking solely for a fastball down the middle but instead swings at a borderline off speed pitch… which with this umpire probably would have been called a ball. Hits a weak ass double play and jogs down to first base. Espada has zero balls though so he just accepts stupidity like that.
I do think they are mostly mediocre but meh… 2025: 17-15 2024: 12-20 2023: 17-15 2022: 21-11 2021: 17-15 2020: 18-14 (covid 60 games) 2019: 18-14 2018: 20-12 2017: 21-11 2016: 12-20 2015: 20-12
As much as I'd like to see Crane let Espada go, I think there is a less than 5% chance he does it. It would also put the players on notice that the front org won't tolerate mediocrity and ideally they'd find an experienced and tough coach to push the team. But they are in a better place this year than last year, record wise, and made it to the playoffs so I'm sure there is a lot of hope and copium going on in the FO where this will never happen.
Dezenzo can never play the OF ever again. we have like 9 outfielders and he is a joke out there so….. never again. Dh, 1b, 3b thats it, Joey. Stop the stupidity. and honestly, after that horrific drop, I’m not sure I play him anywhere on defense. Maybe 1b if we are up big. But we were up 4 runs today and we couldn't hide him out there. He botched the line drive too. He killed his team today. And on a day that he went deep. Amazing.
Space City should go shopping in the bargain bin of old tv series and maybe air The Avengers, The Outer Limits, Dobie Gillis, etc. during weather delays.
I don't think they'll fire him either but he's a terrible manager. Losing a series to the White Sox is inexcusable and the lineup he trotted out today makes me think he was drunk
