It just seems Chas gets the short end of the stick or very short leash. Even when he was one of the better hitters in league in 2023, he didn't play all the time. It's weird. That being said, if Meyers keeps performing, I'm good with Chas on the bench.
He’s doing his usual thing where he gets hot for large parts of April and May. He’s hitting the ball a little harder than normal but there’s really not much substantial difference in his underlying numbers. We’ll see if he keeps this up but as much as I like him I wouldn’t bet on it.
Until the last 10 days, or so, he wasn't chasing as much but that didn't last. If Meyers has shown anything the past couple of years, it's that he is going to have a short, crazy hot streak, but will absolutely settle back down to being an elite glove guy with a below average bat. How long that hot streak lasts and how close to average he is able to keep his OPS will determine whether he can actually be a regular starter. I just hope Espada doesn't move him back into the middle of the lineup. Put him 9th and keep him there until he has a bad game and then start Chas who also needs to hit 9th.
Playing someone until they go 0fer one time and then sitting them is a weird and probably detrimental strategy. Not to mention cold and heartless. It lacks feel for human players and the challenges they may face game to game, against other humans. Joe already has that issue.
It's slightly difficult to have 2 CF at the same time, to allow either or both to prove themselves. Everybody wants Smith and Dezenzo to play, there's only so many spots
Please forgive my skepticism, but I won't believe it until it actually happens at this point. Too many false starts for me to get my hopes up.
I think that is fair...lol - but today at 1:10pm he is scheduled to take the mound...if....and it is a BIG IF, he is truly healthy he is the kid of pitcher that can make a big difference.....he is a 1, or 2 level pitcher, and would bump Framber down to 3........ DD
That is a good and legitimate point. All I am saying is Joe needs to not bench guys after they have a good day but this hot streak by Jake does not suddenly make him a star immune from getting benched. I can absolutely see Joe either benching Jake today wasting a hot streak, or starting him everyday for 2 weeks until his OPS is back under 600.
