That’s basically what Ant shot the whole series if you look at his numbers. His points matched his FGA most that series
1, that's not accurate. I 've already looked at Ants numbers. His total fg% and 3pt% were quite a bit higher and really if not for that 0-11 from 3 last game he'd be completely blowing him out the water. 2, there's more to offense than just shooting the ball well, though that is a huge part. 3, Ant was better offensively AND slightly better defensively than Jalen has been and the numbers back that up. When someone starts comparing Jalen to guys like Ant you really are doing him a disservice because he's not that level of player at this point. ANT: JALEN: If you look at GameScore Jalen has only had one game out of 6 that was higher than a 9.6. In 5 games Ant didn't have any lower than 13. Jalen has only had ONE positive BPM. Ant didn't have ANY negative BPM. Ant Averaged a 124 offensive rating. Jalen is currently averaging 105. Ant Defensive rating 111, Jalen 112. Ant was literally better in every category and the only Jalen like shooting game he had was the last one where they closed the Lakers out...But he still had 8 assists and no turnovers. If we had Ant instead of Jalen this might've been a clean sweep.
Long overdue, but can we finally change the title of this thread to ‘Jalen Green will be an acceptable starter for the Rockets’? Cause there has been a huge disconnect between what’s actually being discussed here and the title for a while now.
Game 1) 22pts on 22FGA 8-22 Game 2) 25pts on 22FGA 10-22 Game 3) 29pts on 26FGA 12-26 Game 4) 43pts on 23FGA 12-23 Game 5) 15pts on 19FGA 5-19 I was kinda joking and I know Jalen isn’t Ant but those are some pretty dog sh*t numbers from Ant. Jalen could probably match those % if he took 25 shots a night
Right, and those bad shooting games from Ant are better than every game except one that Jalen has had. The fact is, despite Ant only having one reaaallly good shooting night, he's still been much better than Jalen. I'm not sure there is any way to spin that.
You really need to F*ck off. You disappeared for months when Jalen was playing well. I’m not even a JOF, but you are ridiculous.
@Mathloom - Jalen is the numero uno solution everyone else - Alpi, Amen, Ime, etc are the problems LOL
Jalen is playing great defense and terrible offense so he’s basically a net 0 at the moment as a starter. Everyone’s moved their goal posts so low for him and I’m not just saying his efficiency is bad, his facilitation has also sucked. There was 2 consecutive plays I think in 3rd or 4th where he was dribbling and than decided to make dumb low ball pass into the key to Jabari where it was so low he couldn’t pick up the ball, 2 consecutive turnovers due to Jalen’s bad passing. Both game 5 and 6 if we didn’t have FVV ball out we’d be swept with Jalen doing his usual 9- 10 points with low efficiency games, oh but his defense was great.
If we had Ant instead of Jalen we might be the favorite to win the whole thing. We woulda challenged the Thunder for the 1 seed all regular season. We truly could be favored against every team.
When a joke leads to b**** fits by weirdo fanboi extremists, you know there was more than a little bit of truth behind the joke.
Exactly this. We are best off using Jalen as the 4th or 5th option on offense for now. His poor shooting, poor handle and poor decision making have all been magnified in the playoffs. His inability to play through physical defense is really obvious. He has been playing well on defense so I don't think he's killing us overall. Offensively, I want him attacking the rim only off of closeouts and when someone else is doubled. I want him used for catch-and-shoot 3 pointers. I want more transition opportunities for Jalen an

I want more transition opportunities for Jalen, Amen and Tari. There is a lot of Jalen excuses on this board. He has been really terrible on offense during this series. Anyone who thinks Jalen is still part of the "core of the core" with Alpi and Amen is delusional. The Rockets will look to upgrade Jalen this off-season unless his performance turns around substantially over the remainder of the playoffs. Not only is Jalen our weakest link currently, I think Jalen is clearly the weakest starter of all the remaining playoff teams. That said, hopefully he has a masterful game 7 and proves me wrong. I would be really happy to be wrong about Jalen. What I've seen so far this series has not been good.
Jalen has a bit of Jamal Murray in his game , and i think his body will hold up better ( but that is a hope) When he gets hot , hes got range and confidence combination to be a really good scorer. However, this is partly a product of the modern NBA and the acceptance of pull-up 3's as "good" shots. Jalen has shown some promise this season of being a decent connective tissue player, hes OK on defense and is a willing passer. He still needs to figure out the balance between agression and being too passive. And needs to use his athleticism better and look to get down the floor regardless of if he gets the ball or not. He could be averaging 6 fast break points a game for us this series . Anywho . I like his stock right now. I think hes behind Sengun and Amen tho. Sengun is showing out defensively this series and has been more consistent as an offensive hub. Amen is way ahead defensively and shows a good ability to use his athleticism on offense with connective tissue and passing aspects on-par or ahead of Green
If we win this series, the JOFs will say, "Jalen settled down and played great defense in his role." That's not what we need from Jalen, we need offense. If we win, it will be in spite of Jalen Green. If we lose this series, the JOFs will say, "Our offense wasn't good enough," or they will try to blame Sengun somehow. Jalen is a $33 million dollar role player next year, our 4th scoring option. I trust Sengun, Amen, and Fred (except when he is stone cold) more than Jalen for scoring. I trust Dillon more than Jalen for 3 pointers. 20% 52% 36% 37% 37% 27% That's not getting it done whether we win or lose.
