Jake Meyers 13 RBI to go with 7 SB for the season. I can't wait for his interview today, he won't say I told you so.

Sure he does - every team has a backup OF or two. That's Chas on the Astros. He gets an occasional start and is a defensive substitution in close games for Altuve/Smith. There's no need for anything more - the Astros have enough other players needing at-bats. People just can't seem to accept it.

Jake doesn't have Jake Day without Diaz/Caratini/Dezenzo/Rodgers getting on for him.

Bottom half of the order wrecked **** today (5-15, 2 BB) in front of the Rake

The Stros rolled out 4 pitchers today and the highest ERA (postgame) of the group was Abreu at 1.93

Brown did a hell of a gutsy job to get over the (quasi-unlucky) 1st and shut things down. Well deserved win.

Ironic that Jake had his best day at the place where his shoulder injury happened. Good for him, now let's see if he can keep it going a couple more games.

VanWey didn't do anything wrong to merit getting sent down, just a numbers crunch. I expect him back.

Maybe. Maybe not. Ahead of him on the pecking order would be Whitley, Arrighetti, LMJ, Garcia and Javier. Some of those guys aren’t due back for a while, he’ll, maybe never, but there’s a world where the astros stay healthy and get healthy and there’s no room in the inn for not only Van Wey but lots of dudes. I say we beat the rush and trade Scott today.

    Hurt/Hurt/Starter until Hurt/Hurt/Hurt

All I was saying is that he'll get another shot. Hopefully when Scott is gone.

I think that’s probably true. I sort of hope for our sake it’s not. I want to live in the world where our hurt guys come back on schedule and approximate the pitchers they were before they got hurt. If that happens we are absurdly deep on the mound.
We already have pretty good depth imo. It’s why they Scott getting so many leverage innings irritates me so much

You can't just expect a starter recovering from surgery(ies) to suddenly become a great relief pitcher.
