Do people on here rere hate Sengun? There's literally no reason for it. He's our best player and by all accounts a really good dude.
No we don't hate him, I'm literally wearing a Sengun jersey as we speak. His lunatic SOF's think that somebody saying he's not a superstar yet like Giannis (because he's not) is hate, even though it's just stating a fact. I can both love Sengun and know he's not a superstar, it's the craziest of things. Of course, I'm not Turkish or mental, so there is that.
That's crazy good defense. No wonder Sengun is missing a few easy bunnies. It takes a lot of energy to play that kind of defense. Elite.
The only certified hater is rocketschamps. Other than there is a group of posters who fall in love with kpj and green and who are heavily anti Sengun. They usually do not have an understanding of basketball fundamentals or stats. Hlm falls into this group for example. They even dislike jokic, let alone Sengun. There are also posters who drop here after a bad Sengun game only and say something like ‘what excuse do sof have now?’ like reeko for example. As if a bad game every now and then needs an explanation. This is more geared towards the posters than Sengun himself imo. Then there are alt accounts that do not have much post history and almost exclusively post negative stuff about Sengun.
There is just a certain archetype (hehe) of fans who are convinced that your center needs to be an "athletic" lob threat and/or 3&D type of big. They simply can't accept the fact that a player like Alpi can be a star in today's NBA because they see him as a slow footed traditional soft euro big. So they resort to all kind of theories to like "Ime hides him on defense" or "he was an All-Star because he is from Turkey" instead of accepting the reality that Alpi is actually a decently athletic and a unique player who has his own, modern and very impactful style on offense and defense.
It's crazy thinking back to the narratives that he'd be unplayable due to his defense, he's shown he's great on that side this series.

Which when you think about it, is kinda sad. Imagine us taking the Warriors to game 7 back at Toyota center and you don't even get to enjoy it because of your own hatred? Man that must really be shitty. I'll never understand those people who care more about being right than just being Rockets fans.
That's ridiculous. I'll reiterate that if they hate Sengun or enjoy when he has a bad game then I have a hard time believing that they're Rockets fans. How anyone could like KPJ is beyond me. He beat up his girlfriend, was a team cancer when he was here an wasn't good.i understand people liking Japen because he's still on the team and doesn't have any off the court issues. His problem is he's wildly inconsistent. Alt accounts are sad. Too much time on those people's hands
I think that’s just playing the odds. There haven’t been many skilled big men good enough to significantly impact a team or how they play to warrant eliminating what many guard oriented teams need — a guy they can throw it up to as they drive and the defense collapses or out for the 3s. there’s always intriguing players with unique skill sets like Alpi, but they don’t prove good enough to warrant the risk and different play style very often. So it’s understandable going into last year especially, many would question whether the route of a Sengun inspired offense/defense would work in the long run.
I mean you can be worried about that initially, I understand that. But to ignore that the guy is a stud and literally progressed steadily throughout his entire career, and deny that he will probably get much better at it. Instead the argument was 'Sengun has progressed early, progress is not linear bla bla, kpj and green has more potential etc etc'. That could only be valid if it was the other way around, Sengun was the guy who dominated early by physical traits and KPJ and Green are players with strong fundamentals who are just getting accustomed to the nba. And kpj is just walking around with a 'I am not interested in improving' sign on his forehead. Crazy times.
Maybe you should watch the streams of founder of this forum then. I've seen him wanting to trade Sengun for a mid 1st-round pick, then for Walker Kessler, then for Mark Williams. How is that less hilarious than arguing whether Sengun is superstar or not? Maybe not being Turkish doesn't help as much as you think it does, eh?
