I am not sure if it was ESPN or some journalist had him making 30 million on top of his game (Prime). That was a while ago. But Rockets were always hard in negotiations......I would have given that contract to DMo regardless of his physical. They will try to negotiate it down to 16 million a year for sure.
Jabari Smith Jr stats 11 FGs/game 14 PTs/game Most PFs are not shot creators. I do not see Jabari scoring more per game, unless his attempts go up. I do not see his attempts per game going up, unless Udoka starts running plays for Jabari. Jabari is one of the better 3PT shooting threats for the Rockets, so running more plays for him might even be a good thing. I am curious to see if Jabari gets more shots this season.
The best way for Jabari to get more looks honestly is if Bari becomes better as a screener and is used to either pop out or be a roll man off pnr possessions. Jabari isn't used that much as the screener in pnr possessions probably because Ime trusts the other bigs in Sengun, Landale and Adams to set screens. Jabari can up his volume of shots if he is used as the screener more often in pnr possessions so guys like Fred and Jalen can slip it to Jabari depending on how the defense is playing the pnr.
I agree. Last season, I kept thinking that Udoka was slow rolling his O playbook out as the season progressed, since he had so many young players in the rotation. We will see.
He's not even one of those dudes who's in a bad situation and would thrive somewhere else. He just sucks. You can't convince me a guy who's fading away against Tre Mann at damn near 7 feet tall and barely touching rim is anything more than a 10-15 mpg player.
Lol... the funny thing about that, they're cousins. Makes a lot of sense. Dad a scrub, cousin a scrub...
MAN LOOK . . . . Jabari just needs to hit the Gym this summer Stop being Passive and deferring to others He needs to seek his shot more Rockets are getting a call to offer help . . . .IT'S INSIDE THE HOUSE!!! Unleash him Rocket River
1st Playoffs 4 Games 24 Minutes 34% from 3 43% overall 75% from the Lin 8.5 Pts 1.3 Blks 1 Asst Rocket River Imagine if he was aggressively looking for his shot
I've always felt this way. I love Jabari. Think he has the right bbiq, skill set, and work ethic. The only ingredient he's really missing is the ego. If I could re-stat him I would give him a 10% or 20% boost to the ego points even if I had to reduce his arcane (Elden Ring so you don't get too confused). Which he never uses.
Jabari is Horry Reincarnated Like Horry he has all the tools just doesn't have the aggressive ego driven mentality Horry 1st Play Off FG% .465 3Pt% .30 FT$ .741 4 Rbs a game 2.5 asst 1.5 stls 1.3 blks 10.1 Pts per game Rocket River
Good comparison. When I think of those championship Rockets teams Horry isn't usually the first person, or third, to come to mind. But I don't think they could have won either without him. Like Horry, players like Jabari strike me as an essential ingredient on a winning team. I believe Amen will be a star one day, but I really wish we would give Jabari more of Amen's minutes. We need the shooting and floor spacing.
We should have a Jesus Shuttlesworth package for Jabari where he doesn't have to dribble more than once. Run to your spot, catch bol, splash bol. add the pst entry pass from Sengun to Jab, turn around and shoot. 16 pts easily.
For some reason it feels to me like Jabari has hit almost every open 3 he’s taken in this series, but statistically he’s still in the 30% range. Maybe he’s just been situationally money
Jabari still has those lapses where he doesn’t help cover if a defensive play breaks down. He sticks to his man which might be the game plan but if there’s a chance to help on a defensive breakdown he’ll defer leaving an open lane to the basket. I get it’s not his fault as he’ll make it a point to let everyone know someone else should have been covering but if a defensive play breaks down then everyone needs to adjust. Maybe that comes with experience, other than this he’s been great defensively. I might rank him just behind Amen in this series for stopping plays while not fouling. Would like to see him out there more for game 7 and play Brooks a little less.
