I’ve been watching Rockets Basketball for 10 years since I was 10, I knew that in 2016 the MDA and reorganization would lead to a massive growth year. I knew in 2018 CP3 and the rockets had a genuine chance at not only getting the chip, but beating the god damn KD warriors. Here are my untouchables: 1. Sengun: This guy is skilled. He has just absolutely had phenomenal games and performances for his first playoff series, against Draymond whose one of the toughest paint defenders of all time. 2. Amen: Generational talent right here. Amazing defense with underrated playmaking abilities. Once he gets his jumper and handles to be above average he’s gonna be in MVP convos. 3. Reed: Really high on this kid. Every game he’s started he’s shot phenomenally. The third stringers are genuine ballhogs but with the starters and a more organized lineup, he’s going to make noise. 4. Bari: This man really steps up when things are tough and always gets that second quarter momentum going. I see a durant lite as well. This is why I want durant on this team because he can unlock Baris true ceiling.
Reed shot better than Jalen in his games vs starters and has better IQ as well. If reed puts on some size and works on defense (no doubt he will since jalen was also a liability on defense till udoka came), I see him as something special , a more consistent bucket.
Honestly the rusty handles is not on him but on IME. Ime refuses to hire a proper offensive coordinator and hasn’t developed offense, Hence the only one with actual ball handling skills being FVV
I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable but I keep seeing people put Reed in a tier above Green and it’s wild to me. I see Reed being traded before Green this offseason
Amen is the only player I wouldn't trade unless we got back a true superstar. Sengun is very good but I think after 4 years we have a good idea of who he is and will be. If we received a trade package of a similar level player that fit better with everyone else (like Chet, for instance) I might take it.
Amen: I can’t say there is nothing I’d trade him for, but I can’t imagine a team actually offering what I’d accept. Sengun: Only for a true superstar in his prime. Green, Bari, Tari: Only for a major upgrade who complements Sengun and Amem Sheppard: I’m not sure how much I value him. I’m guessing teams may try to lowball, so not worth it. Cam: Not the biggest fan. Still wouldn’t move him just to move in. The ideal throw-in as a part of a larger trade.
Sengun has posted a 102.9 DefRTG in the playoffs. That's 8th best among players averaging 25+ mpg and the best on the Rockets. The next best Rocket is Amen at 110.
And the whole double-big is one of the elite lineups in the whole of the NBA. Sengun plays good zone defense, he’s just not the rim defender that is ideal for a center. But Sengun is no slouch on defense, he’s puts his blood and sweat on the line. He’s got athletic / athleticism limitations for quick twitch jumping, and I also don’t think his arm length is elite for blocking shots (I guess I could research it, but his arms look short). But Sengun is a great per the defensive metrics, he just needs to play next to a rim defender. Adam’s is an immovable mountain of a man, and he will earn his fouls if a defender wants to posterize him! But as many have said, Adam’s is older and as good as he is now, he’s declined from his elite days at Memphis and OKC. So getting an elite replacement for him should be a huge need, the Rockets will be picking high enough that someone may drop to them there at 9 or 10.
Oh buddy here we go again. Then when Green blows up later you gonna pretend you never said **** like this.
Reed's value is higher than Jalen? Dude had one good regular season game against OKC and now his value is better than Jalen? lol
I am in the minority but Sengun is my untouchable. Sengun has shown to be a unique NBA player, he is a big but can put the ball on the floor from the half court line and take it to the rack, mixing both dribble/drive moves and post/spin moves easily in the same sequence. On defense he can actually roam and seems to be able to guard smaller, quicker players better than fellow big men due to his flexibility and coordination. He is so good people forget he is just 23 like Jalen and has so much more room to improve moving forward. My concern for him was will his magic work in the playoffs and it is clear it does. I think he is more valuable than Amen as Sengun can serve as an offensive hub or supplement a superstar as the secondary option if we ever go that route. He is also really versatile and can switch between 5 and 4 despite not having a 3 pt shot. I think Sengun will be a superstar eventually (he is an all star now) and you have a 15 yr window with him. Amen also trends well but as we have seen in the playoffs he can be taken out of the game and reduced to being a shorter Ben Simmons if there isnt enough spacing for the team. Thats why I value Sengun more Sengun cant be minimized.
22* Doesn’t turn 23 until after the season. 7 months older than Amen. You don’t give up on a dude that was a legit all star, should have been last year, with the metrics he has.
Yes. That has been circulated awhile. Sengun is close to untouchable, but could be had for the right price. I think the FO, especially Ime, is still very high on Jalen. I understand how coaches get attached to guys that constantly do their best to get better. Jalen’s work ethic is outstanding. I don’t think it’s the right approach, but unless Giannis can be had for a reasonable package which will include Sengun or Durant for 1 pick and FVV and Cam, I think the Rockets extend FVV and try to make a couple of marginal moves and run it back. They have one more year before they have to make big time cap decisions and Stone has shown he is content to kick the can down the road for as long as he can.
Sengun is better than those 4. Banchero is not even close. I will never understand the love affair people on this board have for that non-shooting, slow, non-defense playing mediocre player.
