Yeah, he's got a shitty attitude, is a me first player and doesn't contribute at all to winning. He has zero hustle on D, and you expect Ime to want him on the court?
he’s not good and clearly has issues behind the scenes whether that be in practice or off the court a chucker with a bad attitude gets minutes on the Charlotte Hornets or Washington Wizards
Bunch of baloney! Nate Williams jacks up a horrendous shot every time he touches the ball. Worst player I have ever seen play in the NBA (look at his percentages if you don’t believe me) and he gets in ahead of Cam. Hard to watch Nate even with a double digit lead with 2 minutes to go. I could do better than him by just not gunning EVERY time I touch the ball.
I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Cam after he went out of his way to sign some stuff for my kid nephew after a game earlier this season. Will wish him well always.
It's just not going to work out here because he has done some things off the court and made Ime hate him. His production on the court has been good enough this season to warrant a few minutes. I don't think his defense is as bad as everyone here claims. I think he just doesn't bring the same energy overall that the rest of the rotation does even if he can score more effectively than many of the guys playing ahead of him. He should be a trade piece for another rotation guard. We need another guard who can create and score efficiently. I'd trade Reed and Cam if the right player comes available.
Theory #1 about the way Cam plays: He gets so locked in on scoring that he just doesn't see his teammates. It's irrational. Theory #2: It's completely rational, because he's not playing to impress Ime. He's playing to impress other GMs who need a scorer. I wonder whether Ime left him on the bench, instead of sending him in early with the other B-teamers, because Ime has to come to suspect Theory #2.
If this were an issue, JG4 would have been traded before Ime coached his first game. There are too many players ahead of Cam in the depth chart to get much PT. There is also likely some issue between Ime and Cam, since Ime is giving Cam the "two-way contract" treatment. I suspect that there will be some roster shakeup in the offseason. If Ime wants to commit to playing Amen at the point next season, some wing PT will open, which would be an opportunity for Cam, In this case (Amen to point), Sheppard's PT will get crunched and may get traded. If the Rockets bring in a vet backup point-only point, I suspect that Cam (or Sheppard) gets traded while they still has value. If the Rockets do not trade out of the upcoming draft, there will be even more of a roster crunch. Cam or Sheppard might be some trade sweetener to move up in this year's draft.
Nate Williams should not be getting playing time over cam. I think udoka just doesn’t like his attitude or personality.
Yeah, no, that's not how it works. If Jalen would've continued to not put hustle in, then he likely would've been traded or benched. The difference is he's got better and better the more he's with Ime on the defensive end. Cam hasn't. Cam still dawdles on his way back even though he has almost zero playing time. That's the difference. It's actually crazy that you needed me to point that out for you tbh.
One way or another, we need to find out what we have in Cam next season. It would be super unfortunate if we traded him without giving him a significant trial run. Just too much talent there.
My theory #4 is, it's completely irrational - at least on the surface. Ime has a deep seated bias against anything he perceives consciously or unconsciously as entitlement in his basketball players. He worked his way up and fought for every opportunity he go. That's why he loves FVV so much, distrusts or even dislikes Cam, and why he's had a hard time getting the best out of Jalen. That said, I like Cam and would like him to get more minutes, or go where he can get some.
Don't want that dude on the roster, if you read his chlildhood story of how he was badly neglected by both parents, and you know a little tiny bit of psychology you understand this is not a problem a basketball coach can fix and it will take years. His problems started before he was 9, they're very hard coded. This kid has to crash multiple times to realize he needs to change, and you don't want to be his crash test dummy. Attach him rather than a pick in any trade we make this summer.
Agreed but only if his head is on right He was not a part of the crew that allowed the comeback the other night so I won't hold that against him but Every one of those guys need their *sses chewed out for that lackadaisical bullshit If IME feels Cam ain't giving 110 . . .chew his ass out too Cam has to RISE ABOUT and SHOW AND PROVE!! Honestly . . .the best route for CAM maybe to go to the GLeague and dominate to a level that he cannot be denied Rocket River
