As long as Akina stays in his lane, he's going to be amazing. The problem is Akina thinks he can actually be a good defensive coordinator. At this point of his career, he is who he is. An amazing defensive backs coach. Akina would have been here last year if he wasn't offered a DC role at Arizona.
Has Arch won the Heisman yet? I'm actually worried a little bit about our receivers. We don't have a proven go-to guy like the last 2 years. I hope that changes in next month's transfer portal.
Fun Fact: just mentioned on the Horns baseball broadcast that of the top 7 QBs in his recruiting class, Arch is the only one who hasn't transferred.
Amazing action in the portal by Sark. It speaks to how beleaguered Auburn was that fans are rejoicing for a transfer kicker.
Transfer kickers seem to me to be a goldmine Outside of a very few obvious ones, nobody really knows how good they are coming out of HS Sign the best HS guy you can every couple of years Find a really good guy who has kicked for a couple of years Lather, rinse, repeat
At some point, it seems worth starting to ask if there's any point in recruiting freshmen. Most players it seems transfer at some point in their careers and you spend a lot of time developing players for no reason. Is it worth just rebuilding rosters every year with upperclassmen from the transfer portals and skipping high school recruiting? You'd never have to worry about having a young team or playing people without experience (if you don't play freshmen, they'll transfer anyway). This may be more true for basketball than football where teams seem to replace all their starters every year anyway.
For those who frequent the stadium, I finally got off the season ticket waitlist. My selection time isn’t until 11 more days though. It looks like “maybe” seats will be available in sections 30 and 31. Are those good areas?
