who are the untouchables on this roster alpi jalen jabari tari amen cam reed for me it is alpi amen reed if i had to pick a fourth guy it would be tari guys i would trade out at the right price in order 1 jalen 2 bari 3 cam 4 then tari not the top 3 of alpi amen reed
The first two are obvious. But it would take a massive haul to get Bari. Green, Brooks and Tari are the only other ones that teams would be willing to give something up for though.
https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/poll-who-are-you-willing-to-trade-this-offseason.326210/ No untouchables Take top 5-10 player in return: Amen, Sengun (really only like Shai or Ant) Not untouchable but I’m keeping: Jabari, Reed You can have Jalen, you can have Tari and Cam doesn’t have a future here under an Ime Udoka-led Rockets team
Tier 1: Sengun and Amen - Most potential out of the young players. Tier 2: Jabari and Sheppard - They can shoot and stretch the floor for the offense. Tier 3: Green, Tari, and Cam - Green would be the one I'm most willing to trade. Tari and Cam I would hate to lose but could be used to get another star.
I understand pushback to calling anyone on this roster an "untouchable" because any of them can technically be had....but for all practical purposes, Sengun and Amen are the "untouchables" in that what would have to be offered for them won't realistically be offered. As to guys like Sheppard, if we had a competent coach, he'd probably be a lot less "touchable", but with that moron Ime running things, you might as well get what you can for Cam or Sheppard, he'll never let them play to see what they can really do. Green should be talked about as a throw in to make money work in a trade.
How is Reed a tier above Jalen? Jalen isn’t even my favorite rocket but this Reed bring untouchable over Jalen is about to make me lose my mind
I just think it's too soon to give him away when he hasn't been given the opportunity. He fits the offense well. We just need to see him get that chance. We already know what we're getting with Jalen.
Reed brings the single most important skill in the modern NBA. That's a guarantee. Jalen currently brings a plus effort on defense for a wirey 6-3 guy and thats pretty much it. If Jalen and Reed were both offered to the rest of the NBA....I'm hard pressed to think any team would take Jalen over him. Jalen is girl that peaked in high school at 26 years old with a half year of community college to her belt on her second pyramid scheme. Reed is a recently graduated girl from a good business school and a good family currently interning and learning the ropes. Which one would you rather have?
Unknown and highly talented typically goes over confirmed failure. Remember when it was "but he's only 19, you can't judge him until he's 45" for 4 years? Other draft picks get that kind of leeway, especially when they don't get any opportunity.
I really don’t know where y’all get the audacity to speak this high on Reed. I would almost bet my life the opposite. Reed looks like the most underwhelming draft pick of this entire rebuild
He's not in my "untouchables" for what its worth. It's just not hard at all to see why his value is higher than Jalen's and if you cant see that then I think that's a talent analysis issue on your part. If it wasn't for Cam Whitmore, Jalen would be the least desirable prospect we have. I struggle to see why any team would actually see him as a positive thing to have in a trade outside of a tanking team that wants to kick the tires on him. Chance that a team like Indiana or Charlotte might think his uptempo style could give them another dynamic.
As far as I'm concerned, the only untouchable is Amen. He's on his way to Superstardom. A top 3-4 player. Sengun, I'd only deal for a handful of players. Jabari shouldn't go anywhere as he's a decade longstarter on our frontline. Jalen still has value, and we need to upgrade his position. So, Im assuming he's gone. Tari, as well...but for a different reason. Too much downside risk on that leg. We need to upgrade FVV with that salary used as filler. Dillon and his bargain contract might or might not be used in a deal. I could see him accepting a role as a reserve. Reed is a guy that I campaigned against, but it appears that I was wrong. Granted, its a small sample size. But, he's a player. He's best with the ball in his hands.I'm hesitant to move him, unless we get big value. Cam, Cam, Cam ......I'm convinced he's going to become a perennial All Star averaging 26+. Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to happen here.
If as part of a a trade a team said “include jalen or reed” into the deal, you would include reed? That’s wild.
Cam is the most untradeable. Because, what is he and what will he be? The unpredictability equates to receiving too little value. Reed falls into this category. Amen and Alpi. But no one is to be ‘given’ away from the Core.
