Actually, I do...AR15 is a quality player at a bargain contract ($13.9M next season)...you don't want to get stuck with an under-performing player with an inflated contract: Jalen Green owed $33M next season, $36M in 26-27, and player option the following year. His contract could become diminishing in returns in the future meaning you'll have to give up more to trade him away. Hopefully, I'm wrong and game 6 he shows up. Right now, he's looking more like a Jordan Poole type player and not Cade. Jordan Poole can get you 38 points in a game as well. The evaluation is in, and Jalen is not a player we should build our team around. Please prove me wrong tomorrow! Lol
No need to flame OP. Last time we had a positive Jalen thread after his game 2 performance he put out some stinkers afterwards. Let's keep the negativity flowing. (and hopefully not get too positive after game 6)
Another hypothetical is trading Jalen Green/Reed for Trae Young - depending if we lose game 6 and Jalen Green pulls a Houdini... Then, we can pick up FVV team option and trade for KD. We'll probably have to trade FVV/Tari/Cam/combination of Suns draft picks for KD...Here's our starting 5 next season: Sengun KD Dillon Amen Trae Our bench would probably be depleted in this scenario, but trading for Giannis would probably deplete our young core.
I'd say a lot is going to depend on how the season ends... Right now, I'd say most everything is on the table this offseason in pursuit of an upgrade... but who knows the actual mindset of the decision makers anyway... I mean I would think Sengun has certain unicorn aspects that would preclude him from being traded - but maybe Ime would prefer a more prototypical center who can bang down low... so who knows... I think JG headlining a poopoo platter for a star is probably a likely scenario... "a recent #2 pick that has shown flashes of greatness" is something a GM could sell to his fanbase thats losing a star - while really focusing on the additional draft capital to be included...
I really don't know Jason Timpf and Cowherd are calling him trade filler As I am looking at Luka . . thinking about his trade Makes me say He could be traded The main thing is what will you get in exchange IF NOT A SUPERSTAR Who would we seek to replace him with? Rocket River
My bad, I thought AR avg 11 this series. Regardless I don’t see how 2 role players makes us better and it also continues to take minutes from the young guys Durant is a guy you bring in to help open the offense for Green, Amen, and Sengun and so teams game plans aren’t just stop Jalen from scoring. I just don’t see how trading a potential top 3 SG helps this team if it’s not for Ant or Luka
Jalen Green is only getting traded this offseason for a multi-time all-star (Giannis, Booker). He would be one of multiple Rockets players and assets traded for that star. He is not getting traded for a poo-poo platter of role players. We don't have enough minutes as is for our developmental prospects. All indications are the Rockets brass plan to continue to be patient and let this team continue to develop (as they should). I think the likelihood is super high he's here next year. He's still 23 and locked up on a reasonable extension. He's still very streaky and inconsistent. he has a lot to learn and he has to (and will) get better. Will he be a an all-star himself one day? Some say no, some say yes. He certainly has all the talent in the world to be one. Some of y'all really need to go touch grass. This will look incredibly silly when Jalen scores 25 in a game 6 win.
I think Jalen sticks around until the next deadline at least. I just hope they set him up for success. My suggestions for that: 1) take the ball out of his hands. Make Sengun and Jabari the focal points of the offense and let him play off of them. Fast breaks, spot ups, drives on fly bys and cutting should be his scoring MO. 2) Sragger Sengun and Amens minutes so there rarely fewer than 4 outside shooters that can be credible threats to keep the D honest and open up lanes to the basket 3) everybody improve their 3 pt shot
amen alpi and reed are going to be great together that is the core everything else is movable but not any of those three guys
I respect the anti-jinx, but with all due respect, Jalen looks much better than AR 15 right now. I agree he's a solid player on a good contract, but using Jalen's playoff performance and AR's overall season performance is what I'm getting at. Either take the season averages or take this small playoff window to judge them, but you can't use one metric for one and not for the other is all I'm saying.
The problem is the 2nd apron and how patient will our organization will invest $30M+ in a potential top 3 SG??? What we've learned thus far in this series: Sengun and Amen have elevated their game...I'm giving cushion for Amen because this is only his 2nd season and is our best defender on the greatest shooter ever! Jabari is an essential piece to our puzzle. Dillon Brooks is our Draymond Green - does the dirty work and hits crucial buckets for us. Jalen Green is not clutch for us and easily containable/inefficient when he's trapped/blitz: shooting percentage drops & turnovers increase...he supposed to be our best playmaker and we're going to eventually ask for $40M+ after he opts out his player option in 2 years...we can get 2 key players with his contract, flip FVV/draft picks for KD, and be in a better position next year playoffs. Think about it: we make our free throws and we'll be up 3-2 or 4-1 in this series with Jalen Green playing like a bum...run it back with my proposed roster change and we'll sweep them.
You just said it. We're selling his perceived upside..his potential. Pretty soon, that won't be the case.It should be obvious it's time to get out, and upgrade our backcourt. That along with organic growth will put us right there. See Devin Booker...
Austin Reeves is averaging 20/4/5 this season as 3rd option Jalen Green is averaging 21/4/3 this season as 1st/2nd option Both are liability on defense, but AR15 is the better shooter, which is what we need for spacing for Sengun and Amen to operate.
I watch Bookers entire career so far. No thank you. Bro couldn’t even get into the play in… was 2020 not his first play in / playoffs? Here we are 5 years later and he can’t even make the play in and suppose to be in his prime…
If you swapped them and Jalen got to play with Luka/LeBron/AD and most importantly, the Lakers whistle at the rim, I honestly feel Jalen would be a better scorer. I think AR is a better playmaker and spot up shooter though. I also believe Jalen's ceiling is higher, but that's hard to quantify and I'm probably biased there.
I suspect Jalen is still on the roster next season IF a star doesn’t become available. Otherwise I think he’s part of a trade package. I don’t think they’ll just try to dump Jalen for assets.
