Absolutely, my only issue is with the people declaring we're already there. If he were already we'd be literal contenders.

I posted this in a separate thread, but it feels relevant here too - Amen and Sengun were our best 2 man lineup by NetRTG by a significant margin (of all two man lineups who played at least 1,000 minutes together this season). Build around them.

Best Game from Alpi, He didn’t settle for the dumb shotput / flamingos where he’s shooting under 20% for the series …. He got the ball to our shooters and cutters

Now if him and Adams can keep Post and Santos from hitting 3s …I have us taking Game 6 with space

People outside the city, along with the advanced metrics, recognize Sengun's leap and contribution to winning. Yet many of the Houston fans remain dumbfounded due to pure stubborness, recency bias or that Sengun doesn't fit the mould of what nba2k says is a winner.

And age has everything to do with it. He is not a superstar but continues to make strides.
Warriors have one of the best Defenses since trading for Butler.

Wish Joe Joe would make the awesome Amen graph for the rest our core guys.

That would be great, though I, personally, have him more as a top 25 player who is ascending as opposed to a top 15 player. Same with Amen. Either way, it's great to have two arguably top 25 players under 23.

I agree. But I still think he’s all NBA third team because of the position scarcity.

Doesn’t help that the owner of this site is in that camp.

Sorry - isn't the selection positionless for all NBA?

If he makes it, it'll be the reward of being the best player on 2nd seed team. Not sure if he's top 15 considering he's scoring avg. is <20.

Yes, they’re “positionless” by rule but not really by voting when you look at the teams.
There’s still 3 centers, the teams the last 2 years are still semi normally constructed by voters.

And I get what you’re saying from scoring, but there’s more to being a star than just scoring.

    I hear what you're saying.

IMO, at an elite level (top 15), you've got to deliver reasonable pts. avg., which is one of the most impactful measurable output in the game.

Absolutely. But, it’s not like 19.1 is some low number. He’s tied for 32nd in the league in scoring average and tied for 8th for Power forwards and centers in scoring.

Would I want it higher? Of course.
If/when he gets back to his normal efficiency and starts hitting free throws like he’s capable of, he makes a decent jump.

By the way, 19/10/5 is still a pretty great statline. Only three players averaged 19/10/5 or better this season - Giannis, Joker, and Sabonis. If Sengun increases his efficiency, I think a 25/10/5 average or better is absolutely feasible, and only Giannis and Joker average that consistently.

I will really be disappointed if he averages 5 assists. Such a waste of talent it will be.

We'll see. I do think there are two realistic "jumps" Sengun can take: (1) improve his ppg due to an increase in efficiency; or (2) focus more on being a "hub" and increase his assists substantially. Basically, a 25/10/5 guy or a 20/10/8 guy. If we swing a trade for a #1 option, I could see Sengun falling into the latter mold. Of course, perhaps he ascends to the Giannis/Joker stratosphere of guys who average a ton of points, rebounds, and assists, but he is a ways to go to get there.

    "BoRdErLiNe StAr"

In what universe do "borderline stars" average 21/11/5 in the playoffs and lead their teams in 4 of 5 main traditional stats?

I didn't think Sengun was a top 20 player (now) but I just looked at a list and I could see it. I haven't looked through all players, but a lot of them average 19.5 FGA or so and Sengun averages 15.0. If he makes two more shots out of 4.5 then he's at 23 ppg and that looks better. More shots may lead to more FTs, he could really help his average by shooting 78%+ FTs.

But Sengun brings a lot of value from his assists, rebounding, and defense. His assists can make him an engine for our offense, especially with better shooters. He is 9th in rebounding under players who clearly have advantages on him in this area such as Duren and Gobert. As our center, I think Sengun deserves the most credit for our defense on an individual level. Brooks and Amen and great in their roles (Fred often is, too), but a bad center would make our defense poor. Instead, Sengun looks great on that end and we're a top D. Props to those other defenders as well. I think Sengun was thought of as an "all Offense no Defense" player and I think now he's a really good Offense and really good Defense player. Ime deserves a lot of credit here, obviously.

I'm just happy we can sit here and think, "Is Sengun a top 25 player or top 20 or ...?" He's been great in 4 games this series and probably average in that one game.

Lastly, it was the right move to go after Spencer. We have to show GS that we don't back down and we had to highlight the dirty foul on Brooks. Brooks can't step up more or he'll get ejected or whatever due to bias. If we (Sengun) hadn't gotten in that idiot's face then they might think they could get away with it and we might have looked soft or timid. That's not us. We're bringing it.
