I'd hate to do it, but I would.

Yeah, it's a superstar for a regular star, no brainer. I doubt the Bucks do though

Straight up? Yeah, sure, I'd do that in a heartbeat. We instantly go from pretender to contender by only giving up one of our young core (albeit arguably the best current player of the bunch).

Assuming you're talking about a realistic trade where other picks and stuff are included though?

I don't know honestly. Depends on what other moves we can line up and what else the Bucks want along with Sengun.

The whole point of trading for a star is to pair that star with your best player. Sengun being in the deal defeats the whole purpose.

I think this is ordinarily true, but the fit between Giannis and Sengun on offense is really very poor, and while I'd agree Sengun is our best player right now, I'm not so sure that will remain true over the next year or two; Amen is coming up fast behind him. (Granted, Amen's fit with Giannis is also poor unless/until he learns to shoot.)

I had the same opinion when the Giannis rumors first came up earlier this year. But after seeing the Sengun/Amen pairing thrive this season, and now Sengun/Adams, I think Giannis/Sengun would basically be that but on steroids. The great players always find a way.

And I still think Amen has a ways to go — he’s still raw offensively. As we’re seeing firsthand with JG, it’s no guarantee a player hits their hypothetical ceiling. The handles, the touch around the rim, and the shooting would all need to come around for him to be a true franchise player.

So - Alpy for Giannis and Jalen for Booker?

    Seems legit.

    Yes

    Sengun, Reed, picks for Giannis

    FVV, Brooks, Tari for KD

    That would be cool

Of course. But it would cost more than Sengun. Many, many teams are going to offer a ton for him.

The key is getting Giannis to pick Houston. He will control whether the Rockets are even in this.

This is really tough and really close, but I'm leaning towards no for a few reasons. Obviously Giannis is a lot better than Sengun but there's a lot more to it than that.

    1) How many more years does Giannis have as a top tier player? He relies on athleticism more than anyone I've ever seen. 3-4 years? Thats our window?
    2) How long would it take us to put together a contender around him? He needs shooters and space, we dont have that. It would take more moves, probably can't do this all in one season. That shortens the window.
    3) Does he fit with Amen? Amen is our most promising highest ceiling player. Can he even play next to Giannis? If not, are we trading him too?
    4) What center are we trading for? Giannis doesn't like to play center, he wants a bigger guy to play center and defend, but it has to be a 3 point sniper. Who will be our Brook Lopez?

I dunno, I just don't really see it. I think it would be REALLY hard to pull off, and even if we pull it off, the window is so so short. Somebody sell me on it, lay out the vision. Give me answers to my questions and explain to me how it would work. I'm open to it.

100%! It would be insane not to make that trade.

Of course, it depends how much more would be required because Alpi isn't nearly enough.

Giannis is not coming over to Houston to play with nobody; he's definitely not going to come play with Green (if he's not included in the trade). It'll cost way more than just Sengun to get him, most definitely will include Amen also.
