Gets a look around, talks to the coaches and players, throws the ball a bit, then goes back down the road to SL
FFS Espada, you ****ing irritating dumb son of a b****. Smith needs to play EVERY DAY. Play Chas for 2 or 3 weeks straight and see what that looks like. Then, reevaluate. Dana Brown needs to trade Dubon and Taylor Scott for a bag of shag balls and a pouch of big league chew (as long as it's not grape flavored- that's nasty), just so Espada can't use either of them anymore.
Exactly. Would be a perfect time to get Blubaugh's feet wet. If he has a good start roll it over to another one. If not, send him back down and let lance pitch in Wesneski's turn in the rotation next time around.
That is certainly part of it too - and it was foolish. Baker before hand said he wasn't going to change catchers after the pitching coach and pitchers told him they didn't want to make a change in season. Click made the trade wanting a better bat, but also because Maldonado was playing very hurt - but he seemed to think that he could force Baker to do things, after ownership already said that the manager decided who did and did not play. It didn't help Click that Mancini sucked, and then after Click wanted to keep Gurriel off the post season roster - Gurriel got hot in the playoffs - Maldonado and the pitching held up...... and Baker could point to those facts to gloat. From everything I have been told - the situation with Click and Baker and Crane was really bad. Click and Baker had zero respect for each other. Click was bright and capable, but alienated a lot of existing Astros people - and Crane wasn't happy that he was forced to hire a new GM and did not like Click's personality.
No joke - and at this point it is just an amusing side note. Click and Baker can say they won titles and got other jobs, Crane was able to win a post scandal title and he was able to hire the guy he wanted.
I can’t imagine anyone analytically inclined respecting anything about dusty bakers decision making process in filling out a lineup. that doesn’t mean you don’t have to figure out how to make it work when you clearly don’t have the hammer. click is undoubtedly a jackasd bc what he did at the winter meetings was the height of jackass behavior and he damn sure deserved to get himself fired.
Yeah - there is no question that there was a serious divide between someone that is old school and someone that is very analytically inclined.... and it was very clear that Baker had zero respect for a former baseball writer becoming a GM and telling Baker what to do. The failing by Click was not figuring out a way to make it work like Dana Brown did with Baker --- Click also didn't seem to really understand what made Crane tick.
At least we’ve definitely proven Dubon sucks offensively and now we get to just bask in that warm glow.
