you in a doom and gloom moment - truthfully JG needed to go through this, I want to see how he and his team treat this summer….. if he doesn’t make a big step next season he’s gone at trade deadline
I doubt he's here to start the season, and tbh he doesn't deserve to be. I just can't see us getting much back for him tbh.
I keep seeing that Jalen had a good year... Maybe its just semantics and/or we have a different definition of good but I think Jalen had a good defensive year, bad offensive year. I'd say Jalen was MID this season...mediocre... Fred has been awful this year, right? Guess what...He had a better Offensive AND Defensive rating that Jalen. Out of all starting players who logged minutes at guard, played at least 60 games with a usage of at least 25% Jalen was 17th out of the 21 players in offensive rating out of players who fit that criteria. Fred didn't make this cut because his usage wasn't high enough. Narrowing it down like that is actually generous to him. If you include guys who played less games, other positions, bench players, lower usage...he drops even further. This is not a good offensive player. BUT credit where it's due...In defensive rating out of those players he was 8th out of 21. That puts him at 12th in Net rating which is slightly below the middle. The top end of the back. The bar has been lowered for him by so much that this is considered a "good" year...He's the lead guard and highest usage player on one of the worst offenses in the league. To me, he needed the playoffs to save him from being traded after what he did this season. He showed himself to be expendable. This playoff performance has only strengthened and reinforced my belief he needs to go,
Getting benched in a crucial playoff game, and deservedly so, is a glaring sign that we cannot rely on Jalen as a future building block. He can have a long career as a Harrison Barnes/Andrew Wiggins/Jerami Grant level scorer, but counting on him to be one of a contending team's top players would be foolish after this.
Well yeah. It would require some unprecedented improvement from him. Most championship calibre 1st options show pretty quickly that they are up to the task. Ants first playoff series at 20 he averaged 25 PPG. Kobe's first series was bad but he was 18.
I was totally against it earlier this year, Trae proved to be a much better team player than I thought he could be. Jalen plus salary filler for Trae. Let FVV walk and sign a decent backup Pg. Do what you can to find a bench big that can hit 3’s and play decent defense. Amen, Trae, Dillon, Jabari, Sengun. Conley, Cam/Reed, Tari, Collins, backup big (Adams or other journeyman).
I didn't consider Jalen a 1st option even before this series. But now I doubt his ability to be a 2nd or 3rd option on a contender. Like would he be a Middleton/Jrue level contributor? Those guys made a few all-star teams but were never considered top tier stars. However, they played their roles very consistently, provided leadership, and have good bball IQ. I would be ecstatic if Jalen did that, but I don't think he has that ceiling at all.
its s0 0bvi0us wh0se g0nna be used f0r trade... wh0 are the players the R0ckets arent willing t0 have their trade value dr0p --maintaining g00d numbers [c0nsistent] w0uld any team be willing t0 trade f0r Jalen wh0 is a flight risk-- under c0ntract f0r 0nly tw0 years and has a player 0pti0n being benched and n0t given the [ball] 0r 0pp0rtunity t0 rec0ver his numbers during last game further plummeted his trade value t0 the abyss Jalen is [UNTRADABLE]
Didn't you used to be a big Jalen supporter? If so, what was the final straw that made you realize he was never going to be a star? I would go further to say that the Jordan Clarkson comparisons that were thrown around early on in gest are becoming even more viable if not a compliment to Jalen. Gfab is the President, CEO, CFO, COO, intern and janitor of the Jalen Green fan club because he is the only one left. Clocks in everyday to go to an empty office to offer a product that no one wants anymore.
I think RocketChump has been banned, but not sure. I ignored Hakeethagreat long ago for racist comments. Don’t even know who chef is.
Im a Rockets fan and have been since the mid 80s .. I support the players on my team til they are off my team. I’m not ganging up on a 23yr old who didn’t play college ball and then spent his first 2 years playing for squad that was actively tanking…and now in his first playoff series being schemed against Just like I’m not ganging up on Alpi … the main issue I have is with Ime and his coaching staff, the lack of adjustments .. the stubbornness .. our last play last night was for Alpi to take a shot where he shooting 11% from during playoffs … that’s idiotic our bench got 5 shots last night … that’s idiotic all that compounds on top of what’s happening to JG - it’s a rough lesson and I hope they all learn from it
Hopefully green have a breakout game 5 so we can trade for a better better value. His ass is done in Houston.
There's only so many times I can excuse him completely vanishing. He'd seemingly gained more consistency this year only shooting less than 15 in 30% of his games which is a marked improvement in terms of number of bad games in a season. I'd hoped after the huge game once he got over the "bright lights" that we were going to see our star emerge, and then he wilted again. I think he clearly has top 5 player ability, he's got an insane amount of huge superstar performances for his age - the only other people like that are superstars - the difference is that he's not get the mentality of an athlete, if he did then those talents would carry him through. He's charmin soft, as Kobe would say.
