That's not true. Consider how the thing is structured for a sec. They have a formula based on what you paid in and your age, etc, that might roughly mimic an annuity from an investment, but it's not the same. If you die early, you can will the assets you've invested in to an heir, but your social security just evaporates (there is sometimes a survivor benefit for qualifying family). Its not an investment if you have no ownership of any asset -- might be more akin to a timeshare. Conversely, if you live a very long time or had low earnings your whole life except for 10 years of high earnings at the right time, you make take more than you put in. Nor are you really reaping money from the payments you've made -- your payments paid for your grandparents' generation, and your grandchildren's payments will pay for you. That's why if they let SS go bankrupt like they always threaten, you'll be left with nothing even though you paid in. In short, the benefit you reap is decoupled from the work your payments were put to.

Which is not to say its worthless. But don't think of it as an investment, think of it as a social safety net. That was how it was intended and how it was built. It's not really there for you and your aging. Its there for society and the aging in society.

They would rather "efficient" government that benefits 1% of the country
    than
slightly inefficient government that benefits every one

Yes, payouts to earlier investors are only covered by bringing in increasing numbers of new investors and if the supply of new investors ends, those who have not yet been paid out lose everything. I wonder why people compare it to a Ponzi scheme.

I'm good with having choices for my safety net. Of course I want as little govt in my life as possible. I believe in personal responsibility, and allowing the govt doing what they want with your SS seems like a pretty dumb idea

He already has. There's tourism to the United States that is void and null. Along with imports for businesses etc. Trump cost America Trillions in revenue. There's got to some safe guard for a raid, seizure and removal of this type of conduct. When will it happen?

being a gay republican is some funny sh*t

You’re that desperate to appease those that hate u?

not sure why you’re crying and complaining like u don’t know what it is when it comes to the republican party…Lindsey Graham at least has enough sense to stay hidden in the closet with the door closed

Disinformation and propaganda so good you don't just vote to hurt your own self interests but actively run for a position of authority in a party so you can further hurt your own self interests and others who may also share it.

Trump has lowest 100-day approval rating in 80 years: POLL
Majorities of voters disapprove of many of Trump's policies, the poll found.

    By Gary Langer

Donald Trump has the lowest 100-day job approval rating of any president in the past 80 years, with public pushback on many of his policies and extensive economic discontent, including broad fears of a recession, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll.

Yet he still beats the Democrats in Congress in terms of trust to handle the nation's main problems.

Thirty-nine percent of respondents in this ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll said they approve of how Trump is handling his job as president, down 6 percentage points from February, while 55% said they disapprove.

The previous low in approval for a president at or near 100 days in office, in polls dating to 1945, was Trump's 42% in 2017.

Sixty-two percent said prices, which as a candidate, Trump pledged to curb, are rising. Seventy-one percent said they see his tariffs as a negative factor in price inflation. And just 31% in this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates with fieldwork by Ipsos, said they accept Trump's argument that the economy will emerge with a stronger foundation for the long term.

Negative assessments go beyond the economy. Sixty-five percent said Trump's administration is trying to avoid complying with federal court orders, and 64% said he's going too far in trying to expand presidential powers.

Sixty-two percent said they don't think his administration respects the rule of law.

Majorities also expressed concern that the president will do too much to reduce the size and role of government (58%), argued he's acted beyond his authority as president without justification (56%) and doubted the Trump administration's commitment to protecting citizens' rights and freedoms (55%).

Anywhere from 57% to 67% of Americans said they disapprove of Trump's performance on six of seven issues tested in this survey, including at least 6 in 10 on his handling of stock market volatility, tariffs, foreign relations and the economy overall. Fewer, 53%, said they disapprove of his handling of immigration.

Lets see, change rules to some black men cant pass inspection due to facial hair, make the tests harder to exclude women, take away all past history in the armed forces where it pertains to persons of color.............................man, if people can't see what is happening, then they simply don't care, and I am 100% positive my circle of maga trumpers DO NOT GIVE A F................they wont care until it hurts them. I have some already saying they will pay higher prices if it means pushing trumps agenda, I truly have brain dead morons as family members
