“Fatigue negatively impacts free throw shooting accuracy, particularly under high metabolic stress. Studies show that fatigue, whether physical or mental, leads to decreased accuracy and consistency in free throws“

8 main rotation, GS heavy motion offense + chasing Curry around none stop, it’s a very physical series

Could this play a part in why our FT shooting is just god awful across the board

I notice Kerr does a really good job of rotating players in and out the lineup even if it’s just for 2-3 minutes

Just what happens when you have an incompetent coach.

It does, especially when you already struggle in that area. Which points to coaching again.

Having Amen, Sengun, Adams shooting a ton of free throws also impacts free throw shooting

Roster not good enough to shorten to 8 guys. Ridiculous

The 8 man rotation is a problem, and fatigue is definitely an issue, but these mother****ers couldn't shoot free throws all season. They've been the worst in the league for a while now. I do think part of their overall shooting issues are fatigue related though. Ime needs to use his bench more.

    Very good point.

I get why we haven't seen Reed or Cam (though I wouldn't mind it once it becomes clear it's one of Jalen's off nights). I don't understand why we haven't seen Aaron Holiday or Uncle Jeff. Surely they can contribute, even if it's just one 8-10 minute appearance.

I'd be curious to see stats of earlier in the game versus later in the game, but I'd assume fatigue is one of the contributing factors.

Whether it's fatigue, roster construction, or something wrong w the shooting coach it's an institutional failure that goes beyond the individual players.

We are getting pretty silly here if we believe fatigue is why the Rockets are a sorry FT shooting team or that it's unique to this playoff series.

This is an example of creating a narrative to support a narrative we already believe.

    This is absolutely a thing.

It's kind of stunning. One of the big strengths of this team is its depth. For a defensively minded, effort team, more available energy would seem to help a lot.

The 40ft full court press teams in the 90s, like Arkansas, had big rotations due to this.

It's not why we are a bad FT shooting team, but I can believe it might be a large part of why we're shooting worse than our normal (already putrid) average. Playoff intensity does matter. We're shooting 63% from the free throw line this series, whereas we shot 74% during the regular season.

The other aspect of us shooting worse from the FT line is that we're playing our bad FT shooters more minutes and some of our better ones fewer.

Everybody playing in the game is suffering from fatigue. GS is old and beat up. You dont hear them complaining about fatigue. Enough with the excuses.

    1) intensity is higher in the playoffs and our free throw shooting is way down, even compared to our regular season (which was already bad)
    2) our regular season "strategy" was to give way more effort than the other teams were willing to give, especially defensively, so it makes sense that this would impact us in the regular season as well

That could be true for some, but Amen, Adams, and Sengun have always been poor free throw shooters.

Let's see what the Warriors did in those games

    Game 1 - 10 player rotation
    Game 2 - 12 player rotation
    Game 3 - 9 player rotaiton
    Game 4 - 10 player rotation

Now compare that to the Rockets

    Game 1 - 8 man rotation
Game 2 - 9 man rotation + 2 minutes of garbage time for a few others
    Game 3 - 8 man rotation
    Game 4 - 8 man rotation

One of these things is not like the other.

We had like 2 weeks before game 1 and they bricked half their free throws. And then you had 3 days before game 3 and they still bricked half their free throws. Can't use fatigue as excuse.

Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll use the bench in our elimination game, when we’ll be down by more than 20 with 2 minutes left.

I don't think we can make that assumption. Ime wants his guys to play 40 minutes no matter what.
