I'm sorry but if Grandma lives with you and is constantly sh*tting the bed and ya'll have to get up every 2 hours to change the sheets YEA!!! WE CAN BLAME GRANDMA!!!! This is not a long term situation. We are just talking about these playoffs Fred ain't pulling his weight Those percentages ain't gonna cut it from a starting PG . . . Either he hits the shots . .. or stop taking so many The biggest argument for FVV was his "championship experience" and "his steady hand" He has not been that in this series . . . period. . that is all . . . . The result is . . .. our offense . ..which is already anemic . .. is 4 on 5 . . .. which descends to 3 or 2 on 5 . . .depending on the other non-shooters in the line up Rocket River
Absolute dogshit. Dogshit backcourt. 41 minutes guaranteed. Just kill me when they re-sign him this summer.
He didn't do his part - Golden State doesn't even bother guarding him. He hit some open shots for about 6 minutes of game time this entire series and otherwise he has missed nearly everything and GS continues to guard 5 on 2 (Jalen/Alpi). His "part" is to hit shots well enough that GS can't do that but he hasn't and as a result Jalen and Alpi are playing against teams loading up to stop them - there are ALWAYS 3 guys with a foot in the paint all series which hurts Alpi and Jalen both at trying to score in the paint and otherwise their wing guys are just trying to run Jalen off the 3pt line....and it's not just Fred - Tari has been bad offensively, Amen hasn't really been effective offensively, etc.
He has had a great career for an undrafted guy out of Wichita State, but his decline and lack of athleticism and height have caught up with him, he is a backup option at this point in his career - the Rockets should move on from him ASAP. DD
His championship was as a backup So . . maybe that is his level I am not saying bench him but definitely cut back his minutes WE NEED SCORING more than the Defense I am thinking now I think we can make up for some defensive deficiency more than the lack of offensive efficiency Rocket River
If only we had a coach that was willing to prioritize the development of our #3 overall picked PG, or even willing to play him at all, we would be in a different position right now.
You'd be hardpressed to find more than maybe 3 or 4 teams who would even consider signing Fred as their starter next season. And all of them are crappy ones in rebuilding mode(i.e. like the Rockets in 2023). No team serious about contending would have him starting and playing 41 minutes a night in the playoffs, either this year or next.
?? #2? The question is this simply. Steph was 36-9-7 (12-23) FVV was 17-3-4 (5-14) How much BETTER would Steph's numbers be if REED was in for FVV and Could Reed put up better numbers than FVV? Ime fears that Steph puts up a 50 burger while Reed still looks like FVV Rocket River
Yeah, my bad #3. I don't know that Steph's numbers would be better if Reed got some legit minutes.... especially if Udoka had done a competent job of getting him minutes this season. The narrative that Reed is a poor defender is directly refuted by the numbers. The benefits would be better spacing and another weapon the Warriors would be worried about opening up things for others. Of course, all of this presumes a more competent head coach.
Teams will only want FVV as an expiring contract. Extending him is the worst possible outcome for this off-season, but I believe that is being considered and the likely outcome. I would rather they pick up the team option than extend him and use his cap space in a trade at the deadline. The only problem is going to be Ime who is going to play this bum 40 mins a game for as long as he is a Rocket.
FVV - can’t hit a outside shot, can’t score in paint, slow getting into offensive set… Warriors don’t fear him getting it rim or shooting the open 3 Amen - can’t hit a outside shot, can’t get to rim with paint packed, can’t make FTs, turnover prone Alpi - can’t make bunnies, can’t make FTs, no outside shot JG - can’t get to the rim (paint packed) doesn’t draw fouls, 40% catch and shoot 3pt shooter… mid 30% 3pt shooter off dribble (Getting blitzed / Doubled) DB - 40% 3pt shooter, horrible passer, tunnel vision, foul trouble We have 3 of the exact same players in starting lineup and Ime does nothing to mix or counter that - Kerr knows this and defending the Rockets exactly as he should
Was just harrassing you about the #2 But That said. I just don't think replacing FVV with Reed will be as horrendous as IME may think Rocket River
Ime has other options. Why doesn’t he use them? If a player isn’t performing well shouldn’t a coach make a change? Fred will probably be gone soon, but Ime will still be here.
I would’ve said before this series that there was absolutely no way that FVV is not on this team next year, but if keeps this play up maybe Frito will make Stone let him go. For once, I do want an owner to get involved in the basketball decision at least in this one case.
And not even necessarily a full replacement, just someone to keep FVV to closer to 32 minutes than 40.
But why get so upset about these playoffs? Again, these playoffs are house money. As we saw last night, FVV had a great game ...and it wasn't good enough! Why? Because Jalen. When Jalen plays well, the team wins, regardless of what FVV does or does not do. This team is about the future. FVV is not the future of the team. But ya'll definitely need to be worried about what is happening in these playoffs based on what this team could look like in 10 years ...not this year. Who cares about these playoffs. It sucks cause I really wanted to see GS go down (and still holding out hope) but this team wasn't winning a championship this season in any scenario. On FVV, L.E.T. I.T. G.O. FVV is not the problem.
Dude is definitely part of the problem He wasn't last night but he is as inconsistent as Jalen Rocket River
I agree he ain't optimal but that misses my point. FVV at his best can't mask the bigger problem. Every time the Rockets lose, everyone piles on FVV and scapegoats him while ignoring the giant elephant standing in the corner. Jalen Green and Anthony Edwards are both 23. Which one would you rather have on this team? I like Jalen but that 1st Q last night was tragic. He's now had 3 playoff games scoring <10ppg. FVV isn't the problem. ...if you think it is, that likely will be resolved this summer anyway.
