So not much to add but do you feel Ime should change the starting lineup-up and will he? If yes then who? I’d say yes, but Ime won’t. My vote goes to Jabari since he’s our biggest 3pt threat, long / tall and that way the terror Twins can reign supreme again.
I'd start with Amen on the bench for next game.. Gotta try something.. He can still impact the game in 25 minutes or less
Ime definitely won't. But it makes sense. We've seen Jalen's not it so retool around the stars (Alpi and Fred) and build towards their gameplan. Bench Jalen and Amen, bring in Bari and Holiday to stretch the floor and play the old-man game that Alpi used in his breakout year. We need our star to be the focus and lead us to victory against theirs at this point, the coach aint gonna coach our way to victory that's for sure.
Just revert to the Alpi/Jabari/Dillon/Jalen/Fred lineup that had them in 2nd place up until Jabari hurt his hand. And utilize a reserve unit of the Terror Twins(Amen and Tari), Steven, and either Aaron or Reed. I'd even be ok with giving Jeff Green a few minutes. (If Jae'Sean were healthy, I'd play him instead of Jeff, but he's reportedly out the rest of the first round.)
Ime being stubborn as always. I don't see how any coach can honestly say that his team scoring 21 points and 22 points in the first quarter of Games 1 and 3 respectively constitutes getting off to a good start. The only reason it didn't seem that bad at the time was that the Warriors scored only 18 points in the first quarter of both games.
He doesn't believe in offense. The entire philosophy is "hustle harder than them, play tough and turn defense into offense" anything else is too fancy and probably for b****es in Ime's mind.
Houston coaches, and doing the most stubborn, illogical thing due to rigidity. It's a duo older than time itself. The solution to our scoring woes is staring him right in the ****ing face, and he can't see it. And it's not as though Jabari is a sieve on defense either. He's one of the best weak side defenders we have, and is not a liability on the perimeter either. Unless Amen magically figures out how to actually put the ball in the ****ing basket and contribute offensively, this is the best solution we have.
meanwhile fakers rookie coach just came out of halftime with a lineup change keying an 11pt run to start
Sheesh…the double big lineup actually wasn’t that successful actually. I guess Ime is fine too with 5 shots for Jabari. Cannot remember any shot Ime didn’t like.
You're asking the wrong question. The real question is, can you play Amen and Sengun together? At all? It's very easy for a defense to sag off of them because Amen can't shoot and Sengun apparently has to dribble and/or pivot for several seconds before he can ever attempt a shot, which gives a defense plenty of time to reset. Amen should be coming off the bench, but not as a guard or a forward, but rather as a small ball center in a "death" lineup like GS employs with Draymond.
Ime isn't benching Amen. I do believe Jabari needs to play more though. In the end, I think it's still going to be hard with the "sometime you, sometimes me, always us" approach this time of the year. Without a real go to guy, preferably on the perimeter, it's HARD this time of year. It's a reason the Rox were a rare 2 seed underdog.
The same Alpi who can’t hit two foot shots and free throws. Jalen is good….leave him alone. Need to play Cam or we’re done. 34 points his last start and that is almost 40% of what this team scores as a whole.
Ime should stick with the starting lineup. They just need to execute better. The opportunities are there. Ime's a good coach, and I strongly disagree with the Ime is being outcoached takes. It's easy to look good as a coach with Steph Curry on the team. We definitely do not have a player of that caliber on ours.
It's over. Ime is always outcoached by Steve Kerr. It's just the same as the 2022 finals. He tolerated Marcus Smart taking lots of unreasonable shots when Brown and Tatum were jammed by the warriros. Ime has a preference for point guards that are very good at defense but can do nothing more.
We have a lot of successful lineups from the regular season with these two on the court, so I say yes. But I think you have to play the right lineups. Amen and Sengun do really well when Tari is also on the court, for example. It's really hard to evaluate the playoffs though because the game is so different, and Amen has been so so bad. I know the fanbase goes back and fourth between "Sengun sucks" and "Jalen sucks" but Amen's underperformance has been our biggest issue, bigger than the other two. If we want ANY Amen lineup to work, he just has to play better.
