"Because blood is thinner than oil"

"Bush Relatives for Kerry" grew out of a series of conversations that took place between a group of people that have two things in common: they are all related to George Walker Bush, and they are all voting for John Kerry. As the election approaches, we feel it is our responsibility to speak out about why we are voting for John Kerry, and to do our small part to help America heal from the sickness it has suffered since George Bush was appointed President in 2000. We invite you to read our stories, and please, don't vote for our cousin!

I stumbled across this site...is it for real?

Please note I am not posting this to support either side - just found it interesting that a site like this exists....

Well aren't GW Bush and John Kerry distantly related?

I don't know, if it were legit, you'd think it would have been bigger news. Maybe they are related, but so distant that they've never even met George.

It sounds like these people didn't support Bush over Gore either, so this is hardly big news.

RE: news
Well a bunch of Republicans who never would have supported Kerry and never served with Kerry got themselves headlines for a month while making up stories about their opinions of Kerry simply because of their good PR machine.

Plus, some posters here create a new thread any time the Washington Times makes up a new story.

My father's first cousin twice removed is Al Gore. Neither he nor I voted for him.

hehe ... according to my Grandma when they did a family history research, George Washington is my cousin 9 times removed.

To this day, I still don't know what the hell that means as to how I am related to him

This falls within my limits of what I will post in an Election thread.

Prescott Bush is the father of George Herbert Walker Bush (the former President) and the grandfather of George Walker Bush. Prescott Bush had a sister, Mary Bush, who married Francis E. House, Jr. All of the people on the site are the grandchildren of Mary Bush and Francis E. House, Jr.

News Flash: Political views are not tied to genetics! :)

I seriously hope no one is foolish enough to base his or her vote on the fact that the candidate's family is either for or against him. That's like saying: "Don't vote for Kerry; his wife used to be a registered republican." Who cares?

I am related to a signer also, but I can't say what his name was since we share the last name and it could blow me cover...
