My guess is they had reasonable deals to move up and get any of Jackson, Egbuka, Golden, or Zubel, but (1) felt that at least one of them would fall and (2) it wasn't worth giving up an extra top 100 pick to grab a guy that wasn't rated much higher (if at all) than what you could get at 34. Burden does not seem like he fits the character/work ethic profile of Demeco's team. But a potential bonafide WR2 would be really ideal.
As much as I want the Texans to add o-linemen today (and I'm sure they will), I wouldn't be mad if they went skill position at 34 given some of the high upside guys like Burden and Henderson still on the board. I didn't want Burden at 25 and I know there are some concerns on paper, but he could be a real weapon and had solid college production. Henderson could be the next Jahmyr Gibbs. Neither guy got top 30 visits, but Judkins, Kaleb Johnson, Tre Harris, Kyle Williams and Elijah Arroyo did. So those guys all certainly feel like they'd be in play, too. I saw people mention Harold Fannin earlier.
I’m all for the wait and see approach but this assumes the 1st round went exactly how Caserio wanted which is implausible. Think it’s more likely Caserio did some gambling last night (which is what the draft basically is) so agree the hand wringing is a bit premature.
Arroyo seems like he could potentially be a real weapon in this system. Seems like Caserio is a guy that realizes that type of value with tight ends. Wasn't he in New England when they drafted a similar player type, also out of Miami, whose name we won't mention...?
I'd rather see if we can package a trade for Chicago's 39 and 41 (34, 58 and 89?) and take Savalinaia and Milum. (each is about a dozen picks lower (later rank) in the rankings, but that's been this drafts premium for OL)
That's not what his HC says. Said he was a great guy and a hard worker. Just depends on who you believe.

I'm thinking they can get one of Ratledge/Milum/Jonah from Zona at 2-58. Maybe a slight trade up depending on how things fall.
Caserio can also use 2026 picks to move up. He's got 1st two 2nds two 3rds two 4ths Man he set this up so well, genius level stuff. Gotta go draft the players though.
This is not bad at all, I would be happy with that haul. Would prefer Ersery/Trapilo at 34, Kyle Williams/Tre Harris/Jayden Higgins at 58, Ratledge/Mbow/Fairchild/Milum at 79 with Parrish at 89 if being extremely picky. Norman-Lott makes a lot of sense for our heavy rotation in the interior. With all the work we did on RB pre-draft, I do wonder if 79/89/99 isn't the sweet spot for a RB they like.
HC likely wants his guy to be drafted high. Helps with recruiting. I've seen the play where he threw a fit. It lasted throughout the game afterwards. Like I said, it's been mentioned early on in the draft process and I've heard this from several people. Really good talent though. Not doubting the hard worker part. I just see diva all over him. His character reminds me of George Pickens.
Could even just straight up buy an extra pick in the top 100 with one of the extra 2026 picks and the sweeteners we picked up from the Browns. This draft class is weak enough that I could see teams moving off of picks for picks next year after a certain point.
Nick lives for the 2nd and 3rd rounds, so I'm happy with the trade. So far, he's been successful in those rounds. Plus, there are guys that fell into the 2nd round that should of been 1st rounders. The man knows what he's doing. Also, I think I read somewhere NFL execs were saying that the value of the draft is in the 2nd and 3rd round.
So, can't go to college but can still be President? I kid I kid.... Got to do your due diligence on all these guys. DD
