ESPN and ESPN2 announced on Monday the hiring of Jason Williams as an analyst for its college basketball coverage this season. In an interview last summer, Williams said he wanted to try announcing as he continues to rehabilitate from likely career-ending injuries suffered in a June 2003 motorcycle accident on the Northwest Side.

Williams, bought out by the Bulls earlier this year, will get that chance, calling select Saturday games with play-by-play man Dave O'Brien. Williams, who writes an Internet diary at NBA.com, said he's happy that ex-Duke star Chris Duhon is playing well for the Bulls.

Yes, if his contract explicity states that he could not sky dive, I would.

Relax. He's still making more than probably everyone in this thread by being employed by ESPN.

From what I can remember, his injuries were so severe that it's highly unlikely he'll ever play basketball again. He'll be doing great just to walk on his own.

Sign him up to IR, it can't hurt.

And I don't believe the injuries being so severe bit, he will heal, he is young.

    Sign him up !!

Well, the injuries were so severe that most still think he will never play basketball again. From what I read, he sustained major injuries to the nerves in his leg.

I think ESPN did a piece on him not too long ago, and I remember him still walking with a bad limp. Of course, it will be a while before he makes a come back though.

*And before you guys argue anymore about "sympathy" and all that stuff, Jay Williams had a clause in his contract that forbid him from riding motorcycles. He made a decision to do it anyways and he is paying the consequences.

I'm all for 2nd chances, cough**Eddie**cough. :D So I say sign him up if he can make a good enough come back.

Of course, a car accident could be much worse than a motorcycle accident depending on the situation. For example, what if you accidentally drove your car into a Jets vs. Funny Car event. They always seem to have that robotic car eating dinosaur. It could snatch you up and put you through a flame-filled digestive cycle. Now, if you we're on a bike ... no worries at all.

    :p
