The whole "NATO Expansion" propaganda narrative is the definition of self fulfilling prophecy. Finland and Sweden had no intention of joining NATO as did Ukraine. They only did so because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and even in Putin's own words on the eve of invasion, he said next to nothing about NATO expansion being the reason, and everything to do with his theology of Russian bloodlines, and about manifest destiny and prophecy, etc. going all the way back to the Viking era. Putin, in his own words, invaded Ukraine because of his belief system that Ukraine is basically Russian holy land, and he needed to achieve his destiny before he dies.
