    thats stupid

TMac is a SG, Garnett is a PF

under any situation, there is no way TMac should be ahead of Garnett in anything

If we're talking about last years numbers, then yeah KG was way ahead of everyone. T-Mac should be classified as a SG since he plays there more. It isn't just all about stats, though, there are other things that a player does. A case could be made for T-mac, though, since he was the only one on his team and those 20 something victories were him carrying his team.

I think the only reason that T-mac was considered a SF at all was because some GM's didn't want to leave either him or Kobe off their list. Of course, that line of reasoning didn't seem to work for KG. Probably because T-mac is must more plausibly a SF than KG.

    it is a stupid list.
T-mac is a sg, and garnett is the best player in the nba, so he should be the best at his position.
And Duncan is a power forward, NOT a ceter.

Isn't that why Duncan was voted as best Power Forward in the league?

Odd that McGrady is voted as the best "small forward."

I wonder if he will be on the West NBA All Star ballot as a Forward or a Guard?
You have to think they would put him as a guard. Then you would have Kobe, McGrady, Garnett, Duncan and Yao. Put that lineup in stone for years to come.

However, if McGrady is a forward does that mean that Garnett or Duncan get bumped? And in their place a PG such as Nash or someone gets selected at guard?

I guess they were too tired to play.
Maybe we are so set and we have played together so long we didn't need anymore practice games.

Lets be real; Van sat his starters to protect his team. They expected steve to go off and the crowed to be pumped and did not want the bad press if they lost just before the opener. Not playing his starters makes the game less than a preseson game.

Honestly If T Mac was going to sit a game don't you think this would have been the last one he would hae chosen, don't most players get extra pumped against there x teams. Most players would have insisted on playing in the first matchup against thier former team nomatter what the situation. Thats all Francis ws saying and he is right.

None of us thought T mac was going to sit before the game but we try to justify it after the fact, true fans

Obviously, the GMs disagree with you, and therefore 2/3 picked Duncan over him as the best PF of the game. However, some of those GMs then decided that KG should be on the ballot some way, and put him at SF.

Garnett had the best season in the NBA last year. He is, however, not the best player(not even the best PF) in the game. That distinction belongs to Tim Duncan.

    Maybe, the best players are:

    Center: Shaq

    PF: Duncan

    SP: Garnett

    SG: TMac

    PG: Kobe

Oh man, they woulda won the Olympic gold!

What’s funny is how you misunderstood the survey. They weren’t asked to name their top point guards, just who they thought was the best. Just because Ray Allen isn’t listed under shooting guards, or Yao isn’t listed under center, doesn’t mean they don’t believe they are one of the top players at their positions. 14% of those same GMs thought Orlando made the best off season moves behind Miami and Utah. So they can’t think Francis is to bad. Funny.

i see they do not agree with me. But is is strange that they think a SG is the best SF:confused:
and they do not think the MVP is the best player at his position.
what i want to know, if a GM says a player is the best SF he cannot say he is also the best PF? If that is the case it is unfair. Because in that way a player who is good at multiple positions(Garnett) has a disadvantage.

I don't think it's a big deal that the MVP isn't considered the best player. It was pretty clear that when Barkley and Malone won the MVP, Jordan was the best player in the basketball. When David Robinson won the MVP, he wasn't the best at his position in basketball, similar to this year's Garnett vs. Duncan. In all three cases, the "best player" put on an a$$ whooping of the "MVP" in the playoffs.

T-Mac being voted in as SF probably shows how interchangable GMs view the SG and SF position. And that GMs don't want to leave T-Mac off the ballot. I tend to agree that Garnett did not receive as many votes as he should. *shrugs*
