Better? I doubt it, but I was high on Dezenzo last season and still am. I hope he gets to play more alongside Cam. I read a possibility of Cam moving to CF? How probable is that? It would allow Dezenzo to play RF.
I'm not and never have been worried about Yordan. Diaz and Walker are the ones I've been concerned with. If they start hitting to their expected levels this team is gonna be really good.
According to The Athletic, Cam has surpassed expectations in RF (with a small sample size) so much that they are now thinking about trying him out in CF (sparingly during long stretches of consecutive games) to get Dezenzo more action in RF
Haven’t heard much about Chas other than the coaches meet every week and talk about how the players look - Brown and Espada talk at least every home stand…. But Joe decides who plays absent the rare time Brown steps in (Smith) and tells Joe to play someone more. Really thought Chas breaking camp with Astros was good - but now think he would be better off in AAA playing every day.
Dana Brown knew how good Cam would be in the outfield - he declared him a candidate for RF after watching him shag balls for 30 minutes and having zero Spring training experience there at that time. Cam is fast- not Buxton fast, but not that far off. His arm is very good and he is better than average at reading the ball. Not sure I would put the pressure of CF on Smith, but he could likely do it for a few years at least.
- first 3-game consecutive wins - first sweep (in Astros favor) - Diaz and Walker un-sucking -- Dezenzo fruition'ing too - offense un-sucking at home - 5-1 home stand against teams (SD, TOR) that are no slouch . Gusto who ?? Astros coaches/scouting continue to prove their prowess... King is more evidence - Hader a perfect 6/6 in saves - Abreu isn't shabby either .
A lot of fans, including me, thought the Kikuchi trade last year was an over pay by Brown. In hindsight, doesn’t look like we gave up much.
I don't worry about Yordan until he starts swinging at bad pitches. He's at his best when he lets bad calls roll off his back (doesn't adjust his strike zone) and takes vengeance later.
What a great series, pitching was awesome and the bats came alive................oh what a great feeling today is, The Rockets win, its draft day, man oh man I am feeling good Now go get me a LT Nick................time for Nick to cook..................Lets go HTown
Said this yesterday, if our bats just come back to average not even good .... this team is going to skyrocket in the standings. Rockets and Astros winning on the same day. There is a God.
I cannot fathom our bats staying bad or our pitching staying great. Everything in baseball USUALLY regresses to the mean. But NOT in 2022, which we must recognize as extremely abnormal.
Verlander and Framber just going out there start and throwing Cy Young level starts. Having like EIGHT healthy starting pitcher candidates for the rotation. I didn't even realize we won 106 games that year. (107 in 2019, which I still think is the best assembly of talent ever).
