Yeah- that was my 3rd sentence that I thought he was inside his own head- Christian Walker too. He hit into some bad luck, his timing is off from spring training, he's probably still not 100% healthy from the oblique and then all that mixes together and gets in your head. He had the good game Saturday, not so great on Sunday, got the day off monday to clear his head and came back with his best game of the season. Yainer got a hit. had a 2 hit night the other night. Hopefully, those 3 are going to revert to normal. Pena getting 2 hits on soft contact probably felt really good. He had an expected BA of 310 the other day and he was hitting 220. Probably nice for him to see those two converge some. I've maintained all along that we would be fine offensively. They are testing my patience right now and my fandom is irritated, but my head says keep the faith this will all get better. Maybe it already has.
Or a sign you’re washed like Jose Abreu. Might as well have started all his ABs at 0-2 for pace of play.
Dezenzo somehow has a greater xwOBA so far than Walker. Although, to be fair, Walker has never really been a great hitter as a 1B. More of his value comes from his glove at 1B which has gotten off to a slow start this year. Him declining defensively at 1B may be a more legitimate concern than his bat which has looked worse than average but not terrible so far.
HIs range factor is way down. It shouldn't have fallen off a cliff overnight. I think it's most likely that he's still nursing a bit of an oblique injury.
Sure. That's what I'm sort of trying to say by nursing. could just be tentative. Could know that if he does something it's gonna hurt. Either way- I'm not super worried about him, yet.
I love Spaghetti, but pitching is something we know the Astros can develop and replace. If we have to trade him for some solid position pieces for now and the future, lets do it.
I remember people said the same thing about Hunter Brown. Not sure if Arrighetti will be as good, but I'm not sure I would trade Arrighetti. Framber and Blanco should be first to be considered before Arrighetti.
Stop with the trading pitchers suggestion. Tell me which team is successful at trading pitchers for profitable value out there? They’re the most valuable commodity in this game (despite being the easiest injured). Ohtani is worth his contract because he can pitch. Soto is not worth his contract. The Orioles are catching heat for not retaining Burnes and may in fact trade young hitting for pitching. Hang on to young pitching. Develop more pitching. Trade for hitting. (Or trade for more pitching!)
I'm not suggesting trading him for trash, but if we can get good value like we got for one year of Tucker, hell yeah, I would do it.
Dubon getting pt over cam lol. What's this guys fascination with a career 240 hitter with no power. Jesus Christ
I really want to see if Rodgers can get it going . Jury is still out but I think he’s showing promise . Don’t like him getting sat for Dubon too much / if he needs the day off bc of injury or precaution ok
