@OKC_Texan I hear you, I like Donovan and if he's our top rated player there we should take him. However, if Egbuka or someone else is higher on our board then we should go with that guy. There's a few other guys that could be available in 2nd or 3rd that could also help our OL Room.

The other option is go back into FA and grab one of these guys near the top...

Best Interior Offensive Line Free Agents, 2025:
    • Brandon Scherff
    • David Andrews
    • Nick Harris
    • Will Hernandez
    • Liam Eichenberg
    • Trystan Colon
    • Shane Lemieux
    • Sam Mustipher
    • Mark Glowinski
    • Cody Whitehair
    • Daniel Brunskill
    • Dalton Risner

I like Egbuka as a 2nd rounder not as a 1st rounder. I understand a lot of people like Egbuka in the 1st round. The problem is if you need a starting offensive lineman, then you have to use a 1st round pick on the offensive lineman. At pick 58, all the starting offensive lineman prospects will be gone. That includes Ersery, Savanaiia, Trapilo, Mbow. If you want one of those guys your going to spend some draft capital to move up in the 2nd round. But you don't have to trade up in the 2nd round to select a starting WR or Defensive lineman.

Even if they don’t particularly like the OL available at 25?

If you don't like any of the offensive lineman at 25 then you do look at another position. But that also means you will have to pick a developmental offensive lineman later in the draft. That's not going to be the case this year. Conerly, Ersery, Jackson, Savaiinia should be available at 25 and odds are your really going to like one of them. Offensive tackles in particular normally get drafted higher than their positional rankings in the first couple of rounds in the draft.

I bolded what I think is going to happen. There is going to be a run on OL in the first, we will grab Conerly when there are others that draft experts would have taken (Simmons, Jackson, etc) ppl will complain they didn’t take the better player that was available or just trade back and still get conerly… it’s the Texans M.O.. draft a guy ahead of others ppl had them choosing but after a run on that position and everyone is upset they didn’t either “see it coming and trade up” or “trade back and get same player”

    This was Lassiter last year.

I think the round 1 pick is booker or Donovan Jackson and they’ll move up to get em if they sense a run coming on OL

WR is a need but I believe we can wait until later rounds

I believe we might be able to get TWO studs at guard with our first two picks in Jackson & Ratledge. If those two come in and play well our OL should be solidified enough so that we can compete for the Super Bowl.

FWIW I read that Ohio State LT Josh Simmons will NOT attend the draft on Thursday night.

I would almost rather pick a guard in the first round, as I think there's better value at our pick. I think Grey Zabel will be our pick. I would love Ratledge in the second round as well.

But I would also be happy with Golden or Egkuba, or a tackle, as long as he was good.

My son is in town tomorrow and is taking me to the movies. Feature begins 7PM Eastern time. The Concert/film runs an hour and a half so with previews and dropping him back at his place I should be on the couch by 9:15PM Eastern. Hopefully the Texans don't trade up or I'm going to miss the pick.

    Schrager mock

    25. Houston Texans: Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State

The Texans could look to their offensive line and add a guard who has the potential to kick outside to tackle. They're rebuilding their protection in front of quarterback C.J. Stroud. This isn't an attention-grabbing pick, but it's a sensible one in this draft.

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/...-picks-quarterbacks-prospects-sleepers-trades

▪Some execs have pegged Ohio State's Josh Simmons as the best pure OT in the class. "He probably had the best tape of any offensive tackle," a personnel director said. Teams I've checked with aren't overly concerned about his recovery from a torn patellar tendon.

▪Several teams are anticipating a run on RBs at some point. North Carolina's Omarion Hampton could go earlier than expected. An executive said he believes Denver (No. 20) could be a pivot point for running backs. "I think [Hampton is] the best back, and I think that's who Denver is targeting," the exec said. Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson could also go earlier than most think. Enough teams have him very high on their RB board, meaning late Round 1 isn't totally out of the question. Contenders such as the Texans, Chiefs and Commanders are looking to improve their ground games.

▪It's always fun to ask teams for their sleeper first-rounders -- names that would be a mild surprise to the common fan but not necessarily to those in the draft rooms. Here are a few I've heard: South Carolina defensive lineman T.J. Sanders, Minnesota offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery, Ohio State guard Donovan Jackson and East Carolina corner Shavon Revel Jr. (Kansas State corner Jacob Parrish and Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Turner are deeper sleepers mentioned for Day 2.)

    Which teams could make trades?

Fowler: …The Texans (No. 25) are calling into the top half of the first round to potentially move up. While their target is unclear, one NFC executive predicts Houston is interested in Texas' Banks, trying to solve a clear need at offensive tackle. Teams behind Houston are also hearing from GM Nick Caserio, so it's possible the Texans are just doing their due diligence across the board. The Broncos (No. 20) are also looking to move up, as Adam Schefter noted. And while San Francisco (No. 11) has been linked to trade rumors, there isn't much buzz around the 49ers making a move as of now. If San Francisco targets defensive line, the 11th pick is a good spot to find someone.

Texans are trading up ahead of Miami and maybe even Chicago
