Kevin Durant would provide better spacing for Green - and could take the tough shots that Green didn't even take in game 1. I am not defending Green - I have serious concerns over whether he will ever be capable of the role everyone wants him to fill.
Exactly. Don’t get me wrong Jalen was terrible, but to be fair he did try to attack the rim trying to draw fouls, not called and it affected him. Amen was trying too hard and was terrible. Jumping in the air and passing, a cardinal sin, leading to steals and TOs. And his D on Curry after all the hype was abysmal
Have you seen Jalen's last game where he couldn't even convert wide-open shots? I don't see how spacing alone can cover his glaring shortcomings. Spacing is one of the least concerning issues when it comes to Jalen. He can't slow down or read the flow of the game. He plays the same way in every game and doesn't adapt his game to different opponents. There’s no calculation behind his actions; when Jalen drives to the rim, you can easily predict what he’ll do. He doesn't have a midrange game. That’s why Draymond and the Warriors, as a team, used drop defense, letting him hit the wall and bounce back like a ball. He did all these things in his rookie year and continues to do so. Where are the positive signs showing that Jalen has improved after 4 years? I just hope he retains some of his value so we can get a better return for him at this point.
yeah they both equally sucked. one can't guard curry while the other was shut down by curry but a proclaimed "numero uno" 4th year 2nd pick on a near max contract will always be help up to higher standard than a 2-way 2nd year 3rd pick still on his roockie contract
Jalen green hater here but he has been very good this year, so I'll give him More than (1) playoff game to prove himself!! He earned that. We would not be 2nd seed without him...I'll admit that.
Jalen is viewed around here as having improved a lot as a player, but he still is a below average scorer...which was always supposed to be the way he thrived in the NBA. He's just been so terrible in the past that any marginal improvement is latched on to. Look at how Fred is viewed (rightfully) vs how Jalen is viewed by some. I get that Jalen is still a young player, but this year Fred had the worst offensive year of his career since he was a rookie. He's been awful. Pathetic even. And yet Jalen Green was only marginally better and he's viewed by some as an untouchable cornerstone. Sengun had a bit of a down year compared to his previous years (or didn't take the big jump forward) and he's still been quite a bit better than Jalen.
He didn't play well. No point in giving up on him. What we saw the other night was a team loss. Sengun played his role as "star" well. Adams, Smith and Eason played their roles as "role players" fine. We need to generate shots for Jabari. We need to generate easier offense for Green to get him rolling.
He'll hit more of those shots in this series...At least that's the hope... To win this series we just need him to play up to his usual mediocre self. Would be nice if we could get Nuclear Green though.
I think people should wait at least until the end of this series before making proclamations. That's just me though.
Jalen's gap with Cade is much bigger. There is a galaxy between them. I went to the MLK game here against the Pistons 10 rows away and watching Cade's presence on the floor blew me away. You can't see it on TV because so much happens off-camera but his teammates feed off of his energy and attitude and constantly look to him. Jalen is empty of that kind of mojo.
Amen gave Jalen a head start by missing all his free throws, taking 6 less shots than Jalen. And STILL outscored Jalen. If Amen makes just 1 more basket, he's shooting a solid 55 FG%, his career average. Amen also pitched in 6 assists, 9 boards, 2 stocks, while chasing around Butler & Curry. Amen isnt a primary scorer, but in fairness Amen has to be both Dillon Brooks on defense AND FVV point guarding. Jalen doesnt do that. There's still some games left at least
Look at Cade’s face and demeanor and how he controls the game then look at Jalen. Cade has IT. Jalen can’t hold Cade’s jockstrap while he cries about how he should have been picked number 1 in his draft class.
