Be more specific: What do you want to do, what do you have, etc... ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000
RKMAN, You sound very familiar.... I got all the tips you can handle, unless you've heard them all before.
When you say you can lift 20 lbs, do you mean curls? Or bench? Other? If curls, make sure you isolate the muscle (by positioning on knee, or using a chair to create the "preacher" curl. You can add a twist once you get the dumbell towards your chest creating a mix b/w regular curl and a hammer curl. This makes the "curve" of the bicep more pronounced... I would need more specifics (what do you want to develop, again what you have, etc) to go into more detail. ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000
Weight lifting tips in print don't work very well in practice. Serious injuries can occur if you don't do an exercise correctly. And, many times seeing a particular lift is the only way you'll know how to do it using correct form. Plus, there are many ways to lift. You can lift for power, strength, tone, or size.
I do curls in each hand with these 20 pounders. I'm trying to build strength so I can throw harder and bat better (I play Baseball).
Since were on the subject of getting in shape... What can anyone tell me of the product: Diet Fuel? Ive always been a guy who was in pretty great shape. Until my daughter was born and I found almost no time to do anything. So I started on a strict diet, and getting on a work out schedule. Ive never had to use supplements, and know nothing of them. The guy at GNC seemed to think it was my best bet to helping me, but Ive heard from a few people that it isnt very good for me. anyone have a clue for me?
rkman, I think DREAMer is dead on. It's hard to describe something in the brief format of this board, with no pictures, and limited feedback. You could also do some damage (may be not with 20 lb dumbbells) -- especially if you are under 18, when your bones and muscles are still developing, if you do something wrong. Rimabud is very right too -- you should develop a program to meet your goals. I don't think you can do much to help your baseball game with just dumbbells. You need more variety, and a lot of running. Go talk to your coach. They will be happy to help -- and probably very enthusiastic that you are working to improve your game. Your enthusiasm will help you, because unless you are at the college or professional level, coaches appreciate heart as much as skill. Most Jr. Highs and High Schools now days have excellent weightlifting facilities as well. ------------------ Stay Cool...
