I know it's unpopular, but GS's D was the primary contributing factor in Jalen's demise in game 1. Moody (!), Poz, Payton, and even Curry do a masterful job of disguising "marginal contact" on drives (read: defender's arm with bent elbow, pressing on Jalen's side or squarely in the numbers). Their timing is exceptional because Jalen's gather and transition to shoot is so predictable. They contest shots while making a Judo-style push at the right point/place/time, leading to turnovers or off-balance shots. Short of blowing a tire, sprawling out on the floor, and exaggerating the contact, Jalen doesn't seem to have any counters. Jalen wants to play slow and methodical so he won't turn it over on the dribble, but this plays right into Kerr's hands. Since the Rockets feature almost zero off-the-ball player movement, the opportunities to shake free are limited. Since Jalen's jump shot seems done for the season, we're left with mad scrambles on the glass.
Jalen yapping about deactivating his social media and "locking in" by watching old Kobe/Jordan footage..you just knew he was going to throw up a stinker. He doesn't play well with pressure. See: every national TV game we play and look at his stats for that game.
Warriors played good defense but we made it easy for them. They didn't double Sengun because there's another non-shooter on the floor so they always have someone who can bother Sengun if needed. They happily threw everything at Jalen and pushed up on him because if he beats them, it doesn't matter. There's 4 players in the paint plus the defender can be trailing. Didn't even matter if Jalen blew past his defender, there's 4 guys sipping tea in the paint waiting to deny or obstruct him. Udoka doesn't want Jalen playing in crowded areas and he doesn't want the team to attack in transition. That's nothing to do with Jalen who loves to attack fast. Same for Amen. Usually when teams pack the paint, at least it leaves open jumpers. Kerr made a calculated decision: contest the 3pters and let the perimeter player decide between attacking a clogged paint or taking a middy. They stayed home on kick outs. Warriors played smart defense. I would say it's Udoka who's out of ideas. Even if Jalen Green was Jaylen Brown and Amen was Jayson Tatum, Udoka has lost to Kerr with this strategy. We out-rebounded them and Alpi and Adams got everything they wanted. Jabari chipped in. There's a clogged paint, a normal paint and a spacious paint. We're an excessively clogged paint. If he wants to bring perimeter scoring into this series (i.e. drives), Udoka has to make an adjustment. We have to at least have a normal paint.
People don’t understand the game, the reason I like JG to play PG is he pushes the pace and attacks before the defense gets set… we usually always get something good out of it FVV plays slow… and if he attacks the paint teams don’t collapse because he’s no threat at the rim..so now we facing a set defense more often and Warriors will sit Draymond under the rim and dare the refs to call anything Warriors are also very good at using their body to alter shots - watch how Draymond goes up with 1 hand but then uses his body/hip to knock player off balance They also swipe a lot of drives and rebounds and since Butler got there the refs have let them get away with it ( guess having 2 known defensive stars pays off - similar to how OKC gets away with a lot of swiping) We played too slow all game, the only players to push pace is Amen JG and Tari and with FVV playing 40min that wasn’t going to happen
When the season is over and they evaluate the rotation players, they should just go down the list and ask themselves about each player "if i could clone them, would I ? ". If the answer is "no", get rid of them. I definitely dont want 2 Freds. I dont even want 1. Not completely sure if i want two Jalens but i lean heavily towards no.
Feels like the NFT thing he pulled off for that Dunk Contest nobody cared about....Dunk dat shet and do it in 1 or 2 attempts.
if Jalen Green doesn’t step it up, he will be gone this offseason he has got to bring it in game 2 Rockets are 13-1 when Green has at least 30 points this season…I’m not saying he needs to drop 30 in game 2, but damn, can we at least get 20-25? We simply can not keep pace scoring-wise if Jalen is having a horrendous game, it’s too damaging for a team that lacks offense and shooting to begin with.
Took most of you a while to see what some of us have been saying, sucks that he wasn't what we wanted with the 2nd pick, but at least he isn't a total bust. DD
would you rather have a team of 5 jales 5 alpis 5 amens 5 jabaris 5 taris 5 cams or 5 reeds I'll go with 5 amens first then 5 alpis second
Let's start with double digits before we get crazy with a 20-pointer. But even that might be asking too much as he did just average 12.6 PPG with .315/.250/.688 shooting splits in 5 games against this team in the regular season. One take is one good game, which was more average than good and it falls to 8.4 PPG on .259/.176/.786 shooting splits but only 2.8 FTA. Add to that a nice 1:1 AST/TO ratio.
