Trump needs tariff deals badly but ... only liberal speech can be curtailed while conservative speech should have no limits.

    Trump is a moron.

No free trade with US without free speech, Starmer warned

Sir Keir Starmer’s attempts to strike a free trade deal with the US are at risk over a free speech row.

In a highly unusual step on Sunday night, the US state department issued a statement saying it was “concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom” in relation to the case of an anti-abortion campaigner.

It said it was “monitoring” the case of Livia Tossici-Bolt, who was prosecuted for holding a sign near a Bournemouth abortion clinic reading: “Here to talk if you want.”

A verdict in the case is due on Friday.

The state department, responsible for US foreign policy, would not usually comment on the domestic policies of another country.

Asked about the comments, a source familiar with trade negotiations told The Telegraph there should be “no free trade without free speech”, a stance thought to have become a point of contention between the two nations.

Sir Keir has been trying to strike a trade deal with the US since coming to power.

However, the Government is braced for Donald Trump’s long-promised global tariffs, expected to come into force on Wednesday, as hopes fade for a deal before the US president’s “Liberation Day”.

Mr Trump confirmed on Sunday that the tariffs would hit “all countries”, prompting markets to tumble.

After a phone call between Mr Trump and Sir Keir at the weekend, No 10 conceded on Monday that tariffs would be likely to hit Britain.

    We elected this POS.

I am pro-America and believe America gets a bad rap sometimes… but Trump is an extortionist and the Japanese and Chinese both have accurately pointed this fact out.

It’s very hard to see my country represented by an extortionist and not even a good one.

    Are we great yet?

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-very-wrong-much-us-205630489.html

Trump is very wrong about how much the US is collecting from tariffs

    • Trump has said the US is collecting $2 billion in daily tariff revenue, but the data shows otherwise.

    • US Customs and Border Protection says its collected $500 million in reciprocal tariffs since April 5.

    • The Treasury Department has also reported numbers significantly lower than Trump's claims.
President Donald Trump has said repeatedly that the US is collecting massive amounts of money in tariffs, but the numbers aren't adding up.

orange man will not be happy until everyone hates us, the economy is in a recession and our tourist industry goes bankrupt. Man, I can't wait for all these wonderful factory jobs where we can screw small screws into the iPhone 25

The world is laughing at us, we were the beacon of light for everyone else, now we love dictators who will break the Constitution..............Reagan would be so proud

I am not even shocked that maga folks don't care about the law and the little thing called due process.................and this is only the beginning, we have a LONG way to go, I know folks like Bannon say that you have to have major chaos to keep the people from focusing on one thing and they get an A+ up to this point

We should just stop buying goods from China. Apparently our domestic drone manufacturing is cooked.
Autarky is here. Austerity is not far behind.

    All golden ages end.

Being no 2 isn't bad. Europe was a lovable mascot.

But when we frame it through the Thucydides's Trap, it aint gonna be pretty for anyone. Our media put us in a bubble and our companies should've performed better long term stewardship.

Boomers will die and a new generation will determine which path we'll take. Grieve and rage early and turn crisis into opportunity.

You have to because the populists are here and they don't give a **** what we think.

Scott Bessant says China doesn't hold any cards.

Scott needs new glasses. Oh wait, new glasses are only made in China. That's a tough break for Scott.

If these numbers were true, you could also say "U.S. Consumers and businesses are losing $2 Billion daily due to tariffs"

Trump always blames everyone else for the damage and chaos that results from his reckless decision making. That will never ever change.
