The longer that Donald Trump is exposed to this conflict - the worse he looks.

He looked like a fool with his public meeting with Zelenskyy. He then doubled down looking like a fool with his negotiations with Putin with statements from the Kremlin leaked.

He claimed he would end the fighting his first day in office and that didn’t happen.

Now he cannot really say much because he has backed himself into a corner and tries to distract with other nonsense about Canada.

He either needs to put his tail between his legs and completely cut off negotiations with Russia and Ukraine and deal with looking like an inept b**** to Russia and Putin OR he needs to grow a pair and financially and intelligence wise support Ukraine - but he won’t do that because he would look like a buffoon.

The "secret" Pro Russian SCWs here? If Putin wants it, they are all for it.

Word on The Street is that a quick deal to end the Russian War on Ukraine was a simple deal for Trump. Maybe, if Grandpa took less afternoon naps, he would get the deal done.

He is already a buffoon, whether he thinks he could look like one or not.

Using a simplistic probability tree to analyze a complex conflict leads to flawed conclusions.

The Soviet Union, despite having a superior military and organization compared to today’s Russia, was ultimately expelled from Afghanistan. This alone undermines your primary premise that Ukraine has no chance.

Rather than engaging with the realities of the situation, you consistently fall back on ad hominem attacks. It’s a pattern of yours.

March 4th was a rug pull.

I don't think any American voted for that kind of mess in good conscience, much like how people wanted to get out of Afghanistan but not like the smouldering shitpile that eventually happened.

Putin has broken every promise he’s made to Trump, and will continue to exploit Trump’s childlike naivety. Trump can throw tantrums or make threats, but his puppet master chose the right mark to manipulate. Putin has no intention of stopping his power quest to expand Russia's boundaries, and dismantle and cause chaos in democratic countries. His ideology and vision doesn't gel with countries that believe in freedom of speech, equality, human rights, justice for all, and democracy, and never will.

Those are the types of things you just rarely hear if ever that Trump speak out about. He's just mad right now because he got duped, not because he thinks Putin is evil, or because he wants to see Western world countries and Democracies fail. His big inflated ego made him think he could end the war on day one. Putin probably had a few laughs and vodka toasts with his buddies on that one.

I am shocked that the US is abandoning Ukraine against Russia.

Basically, it sounds like the U.S. is telling the Ukraine to hand over the mineral rights or they'll pull out and just let Russia stomp them.
Given the trade war with China, getting those minerals has probably become an even bigger priority.

I am surprised that a Ukrainian Russia peace deal did not happen in the first 24 hours of Trump's second term. It is a very simple deal to make. Anybody with a modicum of deal making ability should get this deal done quick.

It sounds more like Trump can not pressure Putin into any deal and Trump is unwilling to put the screws to Putin.

Doesn't it take the ability to pressure to "put the screws" ?

One of these days we might have to skip a foreign war due to the budget deficit. Anybody think there could be a relation between frequent elective wars and declining real wages and infrastructure?

Unwilling is putting it mildly. All the pressure has so far been from the Trump administration defunding Ukraine and threatening to walk away unless Ukraine capitulates. It looks like they'll be getting their minerals deal.

    Not really.

The domestic defense industry is pretty high paying… but you probably don’t care about those type of employers providing high paying wages. Not to mention there are options that don’t throw out the baby with the bath water.

I think reasonable, intelligent people can understand the difference between wasteful military actions like the Iraq War/Afghanistan War and prudent things like standing up to Russia and Chinese aggression.
