League sources say Scott Perry, who was the Kings’ vice president of basketball operations for three months in 2017 before being hired away as the New York Knicks’ general manager, is expected to receive strong consideration for the job and is considered a frontrunner. Perry, whose 25-year front office career has also included time with the Detroit Pistons, Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic, had a strong working relationship with Ranadive during his Sacramento stint and worked closely with then-general manager Vlade Divac. – via New York Times
I would have to research it to be sure, but maybe Ranadive was pushing McNair to do something to move the team forward ASAP and there was more demand - interest in Haliburton than Fox, so Tyrese was traded. In hindsight, they would have been better off trading Fox for whatever and building around Haliburton. Vlade wouldn't have drafted Luka anyway, but maybe Fox was also against the Kings drafting Luka. They finally moved on from Fox and Sabonis needs to go this Summer. I don't think that it will be easy to to move DDR and LaVine without some pain, so the Kings should let them be Tank Commanders rather than attach assets to dump them. ....................2025 - 26...........2026 - 27..
