I'd only be concerned that giving them Cam would drop the 27 and 29 picks out of the lottery. Cam is going to be a serious talent.
Nah you play them as double bigs. Imagine if Giannis was where Adams is in those lineups? Insanity. I wouldn't want to give up Sengun, even though I do think Amen/Jalen/Giannis as a 3 headed monster of raw athleticism would probably be fairly unstoppable, I don't want to lose Alpi's fire or sauce. I'd happily give up Reed/Cam/Jabari and all the picks for Giannis though if that was an option. Imagine Amen/Jalen/Dillon/Alpi/Giannis as a starting lineup? It doesn't even matter if we have many shooters at that point, you literally cannot stop all 3 of Giannis, Amen and Jalen at the rim and the defense would be so stifling and disruptive that we'd absolutely murder teams in transition and just run and jump everybody out of the building. We're already next-level athleticism, with the freak as well it'd be genuinely unguardable.
He's 36, will be 37 this year and 38 next year. Concerns are no different for me because he is on the tail end of his career.
He’s going to be 37 next year and 38 when it’s time for his extension. That’s also a ridiculous reason to call someone injury prone. With our team, he could rest on B2Bs and wouldn’t have to play crazy minutes like he was for the Suns.
I’m not sure where I’m at with him at the moment. If we lose to the Warriors, I’m in as long as the price isn’t unexpectedly high. You swap FVV with KD and IMO this team is going places.
Price price price. All depends on the asking price. I think u offer Fred and Dillon and the 2025 pick if it’s #9 or #10. If the Suns want more too bad. That’s the most realistic offer I would be comfortable making that the Suns would likely consider accepting. And that’s as high as I would go.
Let’s say hypothetically this team beats golden state (which I believe we will) and makes a run to the west finals. Or even the finals finals. What would the narrative be then? The more we win, the less we’ll “need” KD.
Yeah, it all depends on what we give up for him. I'm not a Durant fan, don't really like the dude. But he is serious talent even at his age. I would not give up our future for him. Fred + Dillon + 2025 pick is fine. I'd even say that as long as the pick is not top 2, I'm okay to give.
I was actually thinking about this yesterday...and I posted that I think KD is going to be a Rocket regardless.... I could be completely wrong, but I think short of miraculously winning a title, if KD wants to come here and the Rockets can get him at a price that doesn't involve giving up core rotation players he'll be a Rocket. Getting close and not winning could push them to go out and get him even more because he'd feel like the piece that could take us over the top.
I’m all for him coming to Houston - but for peanuts - which is how I hope Stone sees it - so yeah, I don’t think it’ll happen. But that logic of “we were close, maybe we do need him” is a legit way of thinking too. Would be hilarious if we somehow landed in the top 3 of the upcoming draft with their pick. Might get the #1 who knows…
Actually we are both wrong he is 36 today and his bday is on September 29 so he will be 38 next year. If you trade for Durant it has to be with the intent to extend him. Like...what are you even saying? You trade all those assets for 1 season of KD? KD cant rest on B2B because his injuries are always freak accident related. Resting wont make his body less brittle like when he made a layup during warmup and got a sprained ankle or when he stepped on Jabari's foot and ended his season. Rest wont prevent any of that.
Problem is there are always stars looking to go out of their team and while KD is great at his age I am not sure he is the best fit. We will need to extend him unless you just want a 1 yr rental so how many years you think you can get out of KD? 2-4 right? We have a bunch of 23 yr olds and Amen is 21. Thats way too short of a window for our kids. If we are going on a consolidation trade I would rather pay a kings ransom for Giannis than a pittance for KD. Giannis is 30 he has 7 yrs before he gets to KD's current state so at least when you pay Giannis his extension he will still be good.
This would be the best scenario tbh. Anything they get from Spurs wont help their team significantly in the short term which is great for us and our PHX assets.
Yes! Giannis is a completely different conversation. As long as we keep Amen and Alpi I’m good to make it work to get the Freak on board.
