Our old fridge did not have an ice maker. My wife drink her beer with ice. So we had an Igloo counter top ice maker. Would run it for a few days and bag the ice and keep in the deep freeze in the basement for when guests popped in. Love the new fridge filtered water and ice rule
Replaced my ice maker and supply fill dual valve for water and ice dispenser myself a little while back. The ice maker was starting to disintegrate particles into the ice and the water supply valve was causing a water leak in the freezer sourcing from ice tray due to rubber rings worn down. Saved some good money doing myself about 6 years ago. But, my Whirlpool Gold side-by-side has been gold otherwise. Purchased in 2005. I would even remove shelfs and squeeze in there if nuclear war while having a snack.
20 minutes later and the off brand igniter is making fire and the oven works again, for now. But I give it a year before it fails again. The previous burner definitely had scorch marks so I assume that’s why it failed. This is my 3rd igniter in 6 years.
Dam, I never thought about bagging it..................Great Idea!!! I have an ice maker on my fridge, but the ice cubes come out cloudy due to crappy water, even with the filter it sucks and has a weird taste. I almost invested in a water filtration system recommended by Tom Tynan on the 610 Home Improvement show but never pulled the trigger. I used to pick up a bag of ice every week but that was friggin hassle, so the countertop version is perfect for me. LOL, my sister has ice in her beer, I always tease her.................hell, she does it with wine also!!! Were so white trash LOL
The wife and her beer backstory: My wife was born in Ireland and although she moved here at a very early age she summered there for most of her youth up to 18 the legal drinking age. When of age and a bit before when she went to the pub, she wanted Budweiser in a bottle to drink. She was quickly scorned by her mother and told only prostitutes drink beer straight from the bottle. Ever since then, she orders a Bud bottle with a pint glass half full of ice.
Just replaced microwave, rangetop, and built in oven last week with new Whirlpool appliances. Learned that many manufacturers of the wall ovens don't account for the gas connection to the range when it's going underneath. Took my installer some extra work to get the gas line turned and moved behind the oven so it all fit. Works great so far. It's strange that the air fry feature is only available through the app. I really don't understand the point of that one. But it's neat that we can manage the oven remotely...at least until the internet goes down.
Anybody here purchase a whirlpool fridge recently???? I bought a Whirlpool Gallery fridge a month ago. I was amazed by the deli meat and cheese drawer. It can't be but 3 inches tall but it goes all the way across the fridge. When I saw it I was like this will never hold all of my sandwich fixins. I'll be dam#d, it fit everything with room to spare.
I wanted to move away from my gas stove/oven to induction. I did not look forward to having to pay to upgrade from 120V to 240V. There is a company in California called Copper that makes battery equipped 120V induction ranges. It's $$$ up front but with not having to upgrade the electrical panel/outlet + tax deduction it's about the same. I don't get it until next month but will report back. Lots of favorable press about it.
I'm building a new house and wanted really badly to switch to induction, but when I asked the sales guy about whether or not they had induction stoves as an (overpriced) option, they said they had never heard of them. I even asked the builder if they offered them and he said he didn't like electric stoves. As he described it, it sounded like he was talking about flat-top ceramic cooktops which is what I have now. When I explained that's not what they are and how they work, he looked like he had just seen Jesus. It's weird so many people around here have never even heard of them. I understand not owning one, but, for me, it's rare to find people that have even heard of them. I thought about just putting in the default stove and then ripping it out and putting an induction stove in, but said that'd be pointless. Because then I'd be paying for the overpriced standard one and basically throwing it away, then paying for a new induction stove. So I decided I'll just leave the 5-burner gas stove in until it croaks and buy one of those induction hot plates to play around with in the meantime. As for your original question about brands, I'm not buying Samsung anything in the kitchen. LG used to be horrible and was probably best to avoid in terms of fridges, but from what I've read, they're better now, but I'm unsure. I had a Kenmore Elite fridge since 2004 that keeps trucking. I replaced the icemaker in it. I'm contemplating taking it with me to the new house and using it as a 2nd freezer, but I may just give it away or have it hauled to the dump. I doubt the new fridge will last anywhere near as long no matter what brand it is. When my original dishwasher died after 18 or 19 years of service a couple of years ago thanks to a power surge in the area, I replaced it with a KitchenAid that was like the quietest or 2nd quietest Lowe's had. I really don't care about "quiet", but it was on sale, and KitchenAid is generally considered a good brand, so I bought it. There are times I have no clue it's on and it gets the dishes clean. If you are looking for a dishwasher, make sure you can deal with ones that don't have heating elements. If you're the perfect washer of dishes and line everything up in perfect form, your dishes will get dry... otherwise prepare for wet dishes after the "dry cycle". I had to have a heating element in mine. I don't know what kind of fridge you have or if modern fridges are more difficult to work on but you can buy the line from any hardware store or on Amazon, probably. I used to buy them from Home Depot or Lowe's (I forget) For like $5. I'm sure nowadays they cost $500. lol.
Florida hard water is a b****. I would have to replace all the lines through the entire refrigerator. The change filter light never came on so that probably had something to do with my root issue. I tried to clean the entire line with vinegar and that was a complete cluster****.
Hill Country hard water is a b!!ch. Didn't know that about Florida. All I can say about appliances is get the ones with the least amount of digital stuff.
It should be required by law that all alliances with digital clocks come with a battery or wifi connection
