I think the narrative was the offensive ingenuity he showed while an assistant in Dallas.

I expected some semblance of player development, year to year growth, and some basic level of buy-in effort and defense wise, or at least steps towards that throughout his tenure.

Bret Brown, Dwane Casey, Mike Malone and Kenny Atkinson are some examples of coaches that were hired during tanking years, then stuck around longer because they showed promise and improvement during those years.

Judging by your other posts in this thread, it doesn't sound like we'll have a meaningful discussion, so you are welcome to get the last word in.

 

What meaningful discussion did the guy I was going back and forth with give? So yeah you unfairly judged me. I have no problem if someone presents their view but when it starts off as an attack then they will receive the same treatment from me. That guy intentionally picked a fight with me about a poll I created in another thread.

Now about the topic.

Sixers gave Brett Brown a 5th year after 4 straight years of losing. Much like the Rockets they had rookies and second year guys with few vet leadership with winning experience. That team kept changing with missed draft picks etc until their 5th year where they had Embiid year 2, Simmons, Mcconell, and couple vets like jj reddick and illosova.

Malone inherited a vet team that had 30 wins prior season. They didn’t start a dramatic turnaround until his 3rd year with 2nd year Jokic plus some vet help and rookie jamal murray plus a core of very good vets like Wilson Chandler and Gallinari.

Atkinson didn’t start winning until year 3 when he got vets in Russell, Crabbe and carroll.

Smart, look up that guy's thread history and you will see someone who claims he knows better than other posters, claims his eye test is better than actual data, then when called out on his bs he will claim he is right and say it's you who is being a biased poster. He has done this repeatedly with multiple posters and then claims he is innocent, and when his arguments are beaten then starts cussing like a little kid, throwing fits because his ludicrous arguments were demolished. In this very thread he was the one to pick a fight, only gotta read a couple pages to see his entire mode of operation.

Yeah, you are 100% correct, Sil@ss sucked. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, worst 3 year stretch of coaching I've ever seen, made McHale look like a genius.

 

Everything was very hectic around the time Silas was hired. Daryl Morey was helping get Monte McNair. Daryl Morey wanted out from dealing with ownership. MDA had just left - and Westbrook had already told Morey and Harden he wanted out- Harden had enough at that point.

Stone seemed to think he would be able to salvage it - and he hired Silas, because Morey had earlier discussed bringing in Silas but with Lionel Hollins to basically be the real head coach… Stone was familiar with Silas from the past Silas interviews with the Rockets and went with him.
