    ^ this is the hypothetical.

Suns needs a real point guard. Tyus ain't it. FVV's salary works and can run point. Bari and KD play similar position and Bari is a young buck they would want.

As the Rockets I would fight hard to not include Jabari in the deal. KD would like it here, plenty of shots for him to take and all that defense around him.

Phoenix is looking to re-tool around Booker, not rebuild. It's not just the stubborn owner feeling this, but part of it is for Booker. Booker said it as much. When asked by reporters. he says he has no intention of leaving, and also does not want to stay for another rebuild. There are scars there from his early career. Now his mind can change, but it's also forcing their FO to avoid the tanking/rebuild path right now

Giving Sun's picks back is nice since they are draft capital poor, but it's less to use themsleves but to make other moves like pay to get off of Beal, and get a better surrounding cast around Devin.

If the Sun's aren't rebuilding but re-tooling, their own picks matter less. In fact the opposite, if Suns have another team's picks (instead of their own from the Rockets), Suns can re-tool and not be afraid to win games.

There will be other teams interested in KD: Spurs, Pistons, Magic and Heat. So the picks they offer, might be more tempting, despite the current national narrative that we have Suns by the balls.

The vulture circling of us on KD and especially Booker have really turned off Sun's fans (and maybe their front office). If the Rocket's trade offer is overwhelming, they still might do, but if all things equal with offers from other teams, I can see Suns rather deal KD to the east than trade with us.

Stone has his work cut out for him. If the PHX deals don't land need to have more eyes on the other teams. Of course, could also do what lot of folks here want and just keep the existing core.

I’d much rather trade FVV than Brooks. Brooks is a big time bargain at his contract. Re-signing FVV, unless it’s for a trade, would be stupid. Ime has proven he won’t bench him no matter how bad he plays and he is holding our superstar back.

Your quote is correct but I call BS on Simmons. Here is where I think the sentiment is correct. Durant is getting traded to where he wants to go. He is looking for his home to complete his legacy. Coming to a young stacked team to compete for multiple championships is what he wants at this point. If you bring Harden back here with him, I could see them extending their careers on "very cheap" contracts to keep the team together IF they have the window to stick around. I believe each would pull an LBJ and play as long as they could.

He can't do a 3 year extension because of the over 38 rule.

This whole rebuild from years of irrelevance to the #2 seed has focused on youth, athleticism and first and foremost defence.

How is 38 year old KD to Houston even a thing? Seriously…

I'm not saying I would give up too much to get him.

However one of the best half court scorers in NBA history is reasonably available, and we have a near elite team that can struggle with half court offense as it's biggest issue. It's very obvious why any team with the slightest bit of common sense would at least be considering Durant.
