What did you expect from a team of rookies and inexperienced players? How far did you think that team could go in those 2 years considering other franchises in rebuilding situations in the history of the league? What could any coach have done in that situation? All the talk about failure is pointless since he wasn’t set up to win games with a team in transition with no vet guidance, no on court or locker room presence, and players with no experience. The organization was focused on development of players and they made it clear what their focus was to the public.
The KPJ was not totally on him - according to reports both Tilman and Stone were kind of treating KPJ like their foster kid. The KPJ shet I blame all 3 of them.....I don't blame Stone for taking a chance on a kid but for not suspending and throwing him out after the Toyota Center incident involving the shoving or hitting John Lucas there.
How do you know he was aloof? He was visibly upset when the team did not perform. He talked about changing the culture and preached accountability. He was part of an organization who was focused on developing players more than winning. There was no on court or locker room vet leadership. Is he not allowed to smile or laugh or have fun? Sometimes you have to laugh when things are bad. He has the liberty and entitled to that as he is a man without your approval. Are you privy to every discussion he has with the players? We do know the players respected and loved him. That’s leadership in itself.
