There seems to be a common thread in almost all of the Trump administration's move. That is, they're breaking down elements of institutions set up for the "public good" that do not generate a profit, including humanitarian funding. Then, I assume a lot of these institutions will someday be replaced with private corporations that can make a tidy sum off the backs of taxpayers. And we can guess which companies will get chosen. All this profit-mongering is like watching a government run by Ferengis from Star Trek.

As for social security, I get the argument for investing. The counter-argument is that investment involves risk and given that it is a social safety net, it probably isn't appropriate to expose everyone to investment risk automatically or facilitate doing so without making sure the participants really understand what they're betting. There are private alternatives.
Give taxpayers 2 or 3 options for say mutual funds to invest in, with lesser but varying degrees of risk.
