Dude the way Neil woks those chimes, temple blocks and the high hat is crazy.
Geddy playing bass and guitar in the same song.
Alex going 12 string to 6 string and back.
Used to think the initial lead in was synth until I saw the video back on MTV. Just Alex and a volume pedal insane.

This is my favorite live song by ANY band followed closely by LA Villa Strangiato.

    I will not be swayed.

Close your eyes and it sounds like 10 guys are playing. Nope...just 3 guys. Playing live. With no tracks. And no backup musicians.

I just read My Effin Life by Geddy.
He said the drainage that song put on them trying to get it perfect for A Farewell to Kings was what pushed them to do shorter songs.
And Then 10 years later they come at us with
The Camera Eye. Another timeless opus.

I have seen Rush close to 30 times. And my first one was Moving Pictures at The Summit.
My son's first real big concert was the Time Machine Tour.
Scored VIP tix at Saratoga Performing arts Center.
This is my son doing YYZ shortly after

If I had to pick a top 5…..
Not including 2112, Fountain of lamneth, or the Cygnus concept on Hemispheres because they each take up a whole side and contain different songs. However, those are still probably my 3 favorite things by Rush.

But top 5 songs outside of those?

    In no order….

    Xanadu
    Anthem
    Natural Science
    Limelight
    Bastille Day

I feel like those songs perfectly capture the true essence of Rush. Of course, there are many others.

    Honorable mention….
    Working Man
    Finding my way
    Beneath,between,behind
    By-Tor and the snow dog
    Necromancer
    Bastille Day
    Passage to bankok
    A farewell to kings
    Cinderella man
    Madrigal
    Closer to the heart
    Freewill
    Jacobs ladder
    Everything else on MP
    Subdivisions
    Analog kid
    Digital Man
    Distant early warning
    Kid gloves
    Manhattan project
    Marathon
    Middletown dreams
    Time stand still
    Open Secrets
    Mission
    Turn the page
    The Pass
    Bravado
    Ghost of a chance
    Cut to the chase

    thats where I stop.

I did buy test for echo and saw them on that tour (for the final time) but I did not like that album or the ones after it.

Really dig this guy's voice and guitar tone/style. Check out Santa Monica, Stand By Me, Father's Song, or I'm a Song.

Oddly enough, I've never listened to Rush outside of Tom Sawyer. My dad listened to Rush. And I regularly listen to the music he listened to as I grew up, like Moody Blues, Supertramp, The Spinners, Stylistics, etc. I am going to take a dive into Rush this weekend....starting with this one
