He isn’t a bust by any means and few people if any are saying that. Many have declared him the next starter or deserving of playoff minutes or All Star potential. This reaction after 2 games is simply stupid.
Think about this: If Sheppard did all the things Jalen did after 4 years would Rocket fans love him, praise him, glorify him or would they hate him, deny him, reject him? Think about this deeply. I believe it would be the former. People would root for him. Cheer for him. Wish him well. Tale of 2 worlds.
Never forget that the narrative was that he'd be better than Jalen day 1. He's got 4 years to be BETTER otherwise he's a bust by CF standards.
I just found Jalen Green unfollowed everyone on his Instagram. Is he starting to prepare for the playoffs, or some other reasons?
I never saw anyone say that but rookie guards are basically always horrendous, so it wasn’t possible for him to better day 1. If 2 years from now reed isn’t better than what jalen is now that would be really disappointing.
I don't think you understand my point at all. I was saying that we have a top defense, and if hunting Sengun actually worked then we couldn't have that. If you watched this team play all year and didn't see Jalen get hunted all season I don't even know what to tell you. I was literally just saying he gets hunted the same way sengun does. It's because we have plus defenders all over the court and he's the best one to attack because he can still be physically out matched. He's done a much better job with his individual defense but he's by no means a good defender. Pick any game this year and see who the other teams goes after. It's sengun and Jalen cus that's the smart play.
nah considering how much they hate Green no matter what he does on the court and considering their worship of Reed after 2 games should tell you everything
2 different players. 2 different roles. That’s not the point of my post. Let me clarify. In an imaginary world if Reed Sheppard started to torch players on the dribble drive. Throw down dunks. Drop 40 and 30 point games. Actually play defense and rebound. With the same numbers, would fans love him or crucify him as much as Jalen? I think People would call him Cocaine Kobe. Also Do we have to pull out the receipts during Green’s rookie year and see which fans already hated him?
Jalen is a solid defender when players either try to drive on him or pull up for a jumper. He has issues with the post or when players drive into his body especially bigger players. But his long arms and ability to stick with players makes shots more difficult for them. Not good defenders miss their assignments. Don’t run back. Constantly overcommitting or gambling. Wrong reads such as doubling when unnecessary. Don’t get in front of their guy Poor defenders: Cam Reed Uncle Jeff Nate Williams
Oh, ya that's totally different from how i interpreted that. I was thinking more about player quality vs play style. Reed already gets crucified plenty, hard to imagine it being worse but if he flops i'm sure it will be.
This is why I avoid the GARM when there is one week between some of the most meaningless games Green has played in his career doing poorly and the next game because all these shitheads come out of their holes.
You seem to be one of the more analytical and objective posters on the board. This post was out of character for you. I don't see why it's so difficult to be objective about Jalen. At his best, he's an amazing player to watch on offense. He is brilliantly quick and graceful. His jumper is smooth. He can get near the rim effectively. At his best, he looks like an All-NBA player. Unfortunately, he is very erratic. His overall efficiency has not really improved much. The efficiency numbers don't lie. It doesn't matter how great Jalen looks playing on offense. It matters if the ball goes in. It is also true that Jalen has improved a lot defensively. That doesn't mean he is a good defensive player. He is just better than he used to be. Jalen is a pretty good young player who has the potential to be even better. He has improved a lot in the last couple of years. He is our number one option on offense. That is absolutely true. Here's the problem- Take the top offensive option on every NBA playoff and play-in team. Line up those 20 players. Jalen is the 20th best player in that set. That's a problem for the Rockets. We need a better number one offensive option. We can hope Jalen improves and becomes that player or we can trade for an upgrade this Summer. Neither option is wrong. It will be interesting to see what the Rockets do. Hopefully, Jalen plays brilliantly in the playoffs and I can just admit I'm wrong.
I literally don't know anyone who hates Jalen Green. Plenty wish he were more consistent and efficient. I don't really hear anyone saying he's a bad player in general. He just has some bad games. Basically, I don't really see any Jaters at all. Just some fans who wish he were better. Reed Shephard has looked terrible this year. I'll be shocked if Reed matches Jalen's production and defense in his 4th season.
